Domestic Exchange Program?

I'm very interested in becoming an exchange student, but would prefer going somewhere in the US. I am a Junior in high school and thinking about doing it this summer. I live in a very small town in New York and would like to go somewhere like LA or New York City. Any links or advice you have about any such program would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Have you asked your high school guidance counselor about this? They usually are the ones most "up-to-date" on various student exchange programs.
One problem you may encounter is that student exchange programs are geared toward the academic school year. I think it would be unlikely to find such a program during the summer months.

How can you be an "exchange student" during the summer when school is not in session. It sounds like you just want a free and lengthy vacation. I wouldn;t assume that strangers would want to be responsible for a teen in a large city without any sort of structure (like being in school all day). Also, spending a summer in NYC and doing anything would be quite pricey - do you have the savings to cover it?

I would concentrate on finding an opportunity through family or close friends.
