Dollywood - is it any good?
Hi again,
I am going to be in the Smoky Mountains in May and I'm wondering whether to go to Dollywood. I would like to go but my two travelling companions are not too pushed - I am sure if I insist they will go, but I don't want to insist if it's not very good. Any opinions? Thanks, |

Many consider it a huge bust!

I love Dollywood and buy a seasons pass every year. We live about 3 hours away. Beware, it is crowded. The shows are excellent. They have a really good deal, go after 3 pm and the next day is free. Lots of times, my husband takes me and drops me off and I spend the day taking in the shows and shopping while he fishes. Go to dollywood.com.

Not being biased but I think it is one of the best theme parks. Kinda glad some consider "not very good", keeps the BIG crowds away! Seriously, one of the cleanest, interesting, exciting, fun paks in the USA imho.

And it has alot of trees!

I agree with Curious that it is a big bust, and tit for tat, it is too overbuilt. Even the hotel's "rack" rates are too much. I'd make a clean breast of it and avoid it.

Haven't been but the Travel Channel featured it and it impressed me. I had just been in the area and didn't even consider it. Next time I will.

To get away from crowds in Smokies I recommend cabin rental. Many available and great way to experience the mountains.

If you haven't been to all the big theme parks, Dollywood is good fun. If you're spoiled, you'll think it just another one.
It ain't Wally World though. |
"...big bust..."
"...tit for tat..." "...'rack' rates..." "I'd make a clean breast of it..." Patrick, have you by any chance taken a gander at the Dolly Parton statue in front of the Sevier County Courthouse in Sevierville, TN? |
LOL!!

I think we have milked this post enough.
