Dogs on Kiawah
 

My husband and I thinking about renting a beach house on Kiawah in late May - but wanted to bring our well-trained labrador. Does anyone know what the beach restrictions are for dogs on Kiawah? <BR><BR>

I would make sure the house you are renting allows pets.<BR><BR>I think Kiawah prohibits dogs on the beach from 9-5 May thru September. They must be on a leash.

From the Town of Kiawah rules:<BR>Dogs must be on a leash at all times from March 16-Oct 31 except east of the Beach Club and west of Beachwalker Park. Dogs are to be kept out of the dunes. <BR><BR>Be VERY clear that you're intending to bring a dog. Both Beachwalker and Great Beach (and the Resort if I'm not mistaken) stictly prohibit pets and you will be evicted and lose your money if caught. They often have service people 'drop by' to do maintenance, etc. during your stay so scamming is pretty difficult.

It was my understanding that dogs, even see and eye dogs, were not allowed from the mainland to Hawaii. At least that was the case 10 years ago when a friends sued for her see and eye dog and lost the case. Please make sure you have official conformantion.
