Dog-friendly restaurants in Charleston?
Do they even exist? I'm thinking it may well be against code to bring your dog inside a restaurant - but in case it isn't...
I am heading to my house in SC next wkd. My parents might bring their dog along for the ride to my house for the weekend. If we go to Charleston for the day it would be cruel to leave her in the house for 10+ hours, so we'd consider taking her along for the ride/walk around town. If it were warm enough to eat outside this is a non-issue, we could tether her to a railing while we ate outdoors. It may not be warm enough though. Any knowledge of places that allow dogs to sit at your feet while you are eating? Thanks. |
If there are any restaurants that would allow dogs it would be a restaurant that I would NEVER go to!

See http://www.bringfido.com/restaurant/...rleston_sc_us/
It lists seven in Charleston and points to others in Folly Beach, Mt Pleasant, etc. All those listed are very casual/coffee shops. I personally agree with janiekins except in France, where dogs are often tiny and usually very well-behaved, sitting happily on the floor. |
In addition, Dunleavy's and Seel's , both on Sullivans allow dogs at outdoor tables. It's againt the sanitation laws to bring them in.

Thanks Ackislander. I was thinking about France when I asked it.
I figured it would be against code, but thought I'd check. Oh well. Maybe we will luck out with warmer weather. |
Many of the restaurants we went to in Paris had a dog in them. Someone told us, that many of them were dogs of the restaurant owners. At one of them, we had to step over a large sleeping dog to get to the restroom.

Many places with outdoor seating have heaters, so you should be fine.
