dog friendly Oregon?

know of any very special "dog friendly" lodging in oregon...particularly but not exclusively wine country?

The heart of wine country is less than an hour from Portland, so you wouldn't have to limit yourself. And, if Scarlett and mms see this, I'm betting you'll get a suggestion for what many consider the nicest hotel in Portland. Neither of the most often recommended wine country B&Bs mention pets on their websites, which I would understand to mean that they're not allowed.

LOL beachbum...here I am:) mfanelli, the Hotel Monaco in downtown Portland is very dog friendly. Even though we live here, we have stayed there several times for special events. We have not taken our dog there, but they are very dog friendly. Scarlett has stayed there a lot with their dog, so she can give you more insight. Another place over on the coast that is dog friendly is the Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach. We have taken our dog there many times and they are truly dog friendly, not just tolerant. They provide a welcome kit for your dog and there are several stands around the property with plastic baggies/disposal areas. On the deck they keep a bowl of water there for the dogs, and there is an outdoor shower fo humans and their canine friends...very nice to wash that sand out of their fur! As for wine country...I live just a few mintues from several wineries and am not aware of any of the big name places that allow dogs. You might call and ask around though.

Hi :)
Yes, the Monaco in Portland is extremely dog/pet friendly. Pup gets a little welcome package of dishes and treats, his name goes on the hotel chalk board of Pup Guests and they don't charge for pets. They are or were as of 2 years ago, the only hotel in Portland ( I never checked little places..) that does not charge a Pet fee... some hotels charge ridiculous amounts.. $65 was one, I vaguely remember that being the Heathman .. and I think the Monaco is nicer.
When staying there, we stayed there other times without Pup and never saw other dogs, never heard them and never ever saw any evidence of dogs having been in the hotel.
They have their own floor ( 3rd) and it is just as clean and quiet as the rest of the hotel.
Pup stayed there when we moved to Portland, and when we left Portland.. He has traveled across the US and likes the Monaco best.. but did want me to tell you that All La Quinta hotels in the country welcome pets for free... except for NYC.
I have never heard of a B&B anywhere in the country accepting guest pets.

not wine country but close enough for day trips.

Beautiful place, pet friendly, although they do charge a small fee.

Though not in wine country, Ashland is extremely dog-friendly; we've been visiting at least one a year with our dog for the past 10 years. Several hotels allow dogs, and there's a wonderful dog park less than a 15-minute walk (or 5-minute drive) from the theatre area.
