Dog Friendly motels

We are planning a trip next winter with our 65 lb lab. Will be taking the Buffalo to Florida route through the Virginia's. Has anyone stayed at Red Roof Inn's with their pet? They seem to be numerous and very pet friendly. Any other suggestions. This is the first time for us and would appreciate any feedback from other pet travellers!

My choice is LaQuintas. If the name is "LQ Inn and Suites" its a newer construction and very nice lobby, free breakfast and rooms.

I think Motel 6's are also pet friendly as well.

Some of the Holiday Inns are pet friendly, but the policy varies by location. Some charge fees and the fees vary. It is usually the "Holiday Inn"s on their website (the older HI design hotels, 2 stories, wrapped around the outdoor pool). The Holiday Inn Expresses, etc. usually don't allow dogs.

www.ichotelsgroup.com - but call the hotel individually to confirm their policy. You can search for pet-friendly hotels along your route though.

I would definitely agree with the recommendation to CALL indivdiual properties to make CERTAIN they accept pets (sometimes the policies change and those "pet-friendly" websites aren't as up-to-date as they could be); to find out what any additional charges might be; if their allocated "pet rooms" are available; and make certain you get the person's name you spoke with.

We drove from NY to FL then from FL to OR a year later...Pup slept each night in a king suite in a La Quinta for about $79 ...
I am telling you, that dog knows how to travel ((&))

I think that is so sweet that you got Pup and adjoining room, so he could stretch out!!!!!!!

My favorite is Residence Inn by Marriott ... second to them, the La Quinta's.

As mentioned, most (if not all) La Quinta's are pet-friendly, and will serve you well on your trip.

You can check out other options at these sites I keep bookmarked:
