baddeck, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Like any place else, sure if the conditions are right, you may catch a whiff of something. Find me a place that isn't odor free. But to where it would pose a problem? No way. You'll love Kihei as you will the rest of Maui!

Thanks everyone for your input - our stay now has changed a bit, we're staying 9 night in Kihei area, 2nights in Hana area and 3 nights at Napili Point so we're looking forward to the bit of diversity. Have bought Maui Revealed which is available here at the Cdn. bookstores and Maui looks awesome.
I was there 28 yrs ago but can hardly remember anything except the bars!! (I was a young one then).
