Does Kauai have any beach similar to Hapuna on BI?
I have been to both islands and really like Poipu beach Kauai but my family LOVED Hapuna on the Big Island. It was so long with clear rolling surf and soft sand. Has anyone been to a beach on Kauai they would say was comparable to Hapuna? I have not been to any of the north shore Kauai beaches, just as far as Lydgate Park but am hoping that some up that way are comparable. Thanks...

I've not been Hapuna Beach, so I can't compare it to those that I've been to on Kaua'i.
There are gorgeous beaches on the north shore and Makua (called Tunnels by locals) is one of them. The beach at Hanalei Bay is about a mile long with fine, tighly packed sand and calm waters in the summer. These beaches are notoriously known for their wild waves and heavy surf in the winter. In the summer they can be calm and afford good swimming and snorkeling.
I think the beaches are better on Maui.

I think Salt Pond Beach Park is pretty respectable, if you don't mind the
planes after all we're talkin' bout Kaua`i, though doesn't get as wavy as Hapuna which is fine by me.

Also, ohanaman1, suggest you just keep on heading north of Lydgate on your next visit to where the road ends, the
beautiful
setting of Ke`e beach simply :-"Hapuna away IMHO. (oops, forgot
)
