It is Binions Horshoe - I had it after the downtown light show at night, and other than the ice-berg salad, the meal was surprisingly quite enjoyable - very Las Vegas if you get my drift ($4.99)!

Binion's web addy is:http://www.lasvegas.com/travel/hotels/binions.html

And if you are really looking for cheap... check out the .99-cent breakfast at the El Cortez down the street from Binions. Some more true local flavors of the Olde Las Vegas.

Ernie's Casino (at 1901 N. Rancho Drive) brings the locals in for their cheap-food too. It may not be quite as well-appointed as Texas Station across the street, but this smoky slot joint watches the bottom line on its food: A country-fried steak sandwich and fries goes for $1.75, a "Mr. Rib" for $1.95. For big spenders, there's a 6-ounce steak dinner for $3.95 or a half-rack of baby-back ribs for $5.

I hope this "trough eating" is what you were looking for. Stay clear of the .99-cent shrimp cocktail anywhere though... midget shrimps!

Happy Trails,
Paul

You can "upgrade" at a couple of the 99 cent shrimp cocktail places and for $2 or so get some very good sized shrimp!

For cheap steak & eggs, we usually eat at the California....or I guess as Paul says, at the Horseshoe. I also like that 99 cent shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate casino.

There is a $7.95 T-bone steak dinner at the Gold Coast which I believe is offered 24 hours a day. It was a pretty big steak and you can actually chew it.

Yes, I believe you're thinking of Binions Horseshoe downtown. A couple of yrs ago it was around $3.99 (I would not doubt the poster above when he says it's now $4.99). The special doesn't start until 10 or 11 at night but if you're hungry and in the area it is a good deal. The meal comes w/ roll, potato, & small salad. I would not drive down there for it but I've eaten it many times (not recently as stated above) when I was gambling downtown and found myself hungry. FYI- If you sit at a table in Binions you can easily qualify for a free comp. Enjoy!

There is also an "off the menu" special at Lucky's at the Hard Rock... decent sized steak (i think it's Filet Mignon) and a skewer or grilled shrimp, served with salad and choice of potato... $7.77. Served anytime.
