Or... the other perspective is that by taking those things with her - by travelling the way she always has and not having to change that much - she *will* be able to RELAX. What to you "sounds ... more stressful than a day at the office" is to her the preferred way to travel.

IMO, it's not our call to impose our own preconceptions on her. The OP question was whether or not packing a 26" bag would be over the 50lb weight limit - not whether her lifestyle is one that any of us would or would not duplicate. Take a deep breath - it's her life to live.

Having toiletries I'm not allergic to and nice clean clothes makes travel enjoyable for me. It's very easy indeed. Nothing like a day at the office.

I am amazed that some people feel so strongly regarding how I like to travel. I am not trying to get anyone else to do as I do.

I see lots of people at airports with more and fewer bags than I have. There is no one right way for everyone.

Chocolate, in fact, I want to commend you for your "restraint" in this thread - I don't travel like you do (more like Rick Steves -- one carryon for 2 weeks), and honestly, I think you're nuts (said in a very nice way), but you didn't ask for anyone's opinion, just their advice and still, when you got a lot of negative opinions, you chose to reply nicely and with manners. Perfect. Have a good trip.

We (two of us) took 6 bags for two weeks in Hawaii. I take a lot of stuff. I don't care - but I make sure I can move it all by stuff myself.

C_W_I~~ I can't speak to Janis' laundry habits, but the trick for me packing light IS being willing to wear things several if not many times between washings. If you aren't able or willing to do that, you could never pack as light as I do (which is not all that light! as I use a 24" expadable roller, not a carryon, regardless of the length of the trip).

Oops, I just read thru the rest of the posts. The above is in no way a judgement of your style of travel, you asked how some of us did it, so we told you.

And to the original question... yes I think a 26-incher has a very good chance of weighing more than 50 lbs. if packed full.

My 26 inch usually lands in the 45 pound range. I keep extra room in the duffle in case I need to switch items out at the counter.
