Do you know your dining customs?

Take this quick quiz to see how you'd fare at the table in various countries...

I only got 5 out of 11 right. :(

Thanks for posting that tpatricco, that was an interesting little quiz. 7 out of 11.

Alisa Nov 30th, 2004 10:54 AM

5 out of 11 for me.

GoTravel Nov 30th, 2004 11:06 AM

7 out of 11 for me.

Meesthare Nov 30th, 2004 11:09 AM

Ooh, I'm SO smart! I got 8 out of 11.

Ryan Nov 30th, 2004 11:10 AM

8 of 11. It's nice to known that unlike the look of scorn I get from my wife after finishing dinner, the Inuit people of Canada would consider me extremely polite.

6 out of 11. I was doing really well at first and then fell off. Oh well at least I knew not to ask for ketchup in France ;)

Knew the toasting in Australia thing because we adopted that recently as we decided that we weren't acknowleding each other. It has made a big difference looking at teh person instead of the glass!

Ryan Nov 30th, 2004 11:36 AM

Suzie,
The toasting thing was about Austria. In Australia if you do that, I believe that means you'd like to watch all of Yahoo Serious' movies.

Suzie Nov 30th, 2004 11:48 AM

You know Ryan I did pause to try and recall which Au country I should type. Thanks for correcting me. In the end it is a lovely custom though.

How many movies am I committed to? ;)

Guess I'm at the bottom of the list with only 4!

6 out of 11. Now I know my dad is not German but Inuit.

If I had known the Chinese thing when I was a kid I could have had a good answer when I got the guilt trip "Clean your plate, starving children in China clean their plates".

michelleNYC Nov 30th, 2004 12:13 PM

Wow! 10 of 11! I missed the polish fish flipping thing...

travelinandgolfin Nov 30th, 2004 12:22 PM

9 out of 11. Though toward the end, I was just picking the most outrageous answer!

Here's a serious question re. ettiqute.

1. Is it still bad manners to eat with your elbows on the table?

2. Is it bad manners to cut all your meat at one time rather than cut eat, cut eat?

stormygirl Nov 30th, 2004 12:25 PM

8 out of 11

but wtg Michelle!

joan Nov 30th, 2004 12:25 PM

Wow you're good Michelle!
Is that really true about ketchup in France??? What do they put on their pommes frites then?

michelleNYC Nov 30th, 2004 12:37 PM

Thanks... and just FYI, I guessed (correctly) on a couple so it could have been worse... ;-)
