My husband and I will be going on a business trip soon. I always bring my own pillow when we travel, which he thinks is weird. I do this because I have a hard time falling asleep in an unfamiliar place and often don't like the pillows at hotels. I know I'm not the only person who does this because my mother does it too.

Does anyone else travel with their own pillow, blankets, ect? If so why? I just want to show my husband that I am not the only person who does this.

We always grab our own pillows when traveling. The only problem is , we sometimes forget them and leave without them when we check out. It was my husband that started this tradition. He can't stand to sleep without two or three pillows.

I always take my own pillow when I travel. Hotel pillows are pretty much hit and miss and I can't stand to sleep on a lousy pillow.

Whenever I can, I do like to bring my own pillow. But if the suitcase is getting too full, it's the first thing to go!

Yes, we travel with our pillows, except when flying. And I buy bright colored pillowcases for them. Easy to spot when checking to see if we have everything, and also they don't show the dirt as bad.
I read somewhere that the most forgotten item in hotel/motel rooms are 'personal pillows' so do feel bad about taking them.

Since disk surgery, I've found most hotel pillows unusable so I bring my down pillow from home.

This is funny, I thought that I was weird for bringing my own pillow when I travel. At first my husband thought it was strange but now I've got him doing it too. It helps us sleep better. About the only time we won't take them is when we fly & can't afford the space in the suit case.

Good to know I've got lots of company.

No, but i often double up a bath towel and place it inside the pillow case underneath.

My hubby Clark's parents travel with their own pillows however, as do many of their friends, so it seems to be quite common.

I always bring my own pillow. It's down, so it doesn't take up too much space (forces me to try not to overpack).

Some hotels now a days give you a choice (if you ask in advance) of diffent types of pillows, but it's rare and I'd just assume have my own with me.

For road trips, definitely! For longer or international trips/via plane, I at least bring a pillowcase--makes a hotel more homy!

My husband has to have his specific pillow and I just like to have a lot of pillows. My mother, on the other hand, brings her own sheets.

I love flat pillows and those darn hotel/apartment pillows tend too be a foot thick.. so I usually throw them acrow the room.. I wish I could bring my pillow but it would take wau too much room. I travel semi light.. well light for a tourist, heavy for a backpacker..

I use a thin and squishy down pillow at home. Traveled frequently for years and often ended up with sore neck or upper back after sleeping in hotel beds. When I started bringing my own pillow the problem disappeared! It compresses and going into the top of my suitcase, takes up very little space. I always use a colored pillowcase so I won't mix it in with hotel pillows. I also make it a practice to stash it in my suitcase during the day when staying multiple nights. Any morning on which I'm leaving, it comes off the bed with me first thing when I get up so it won't be forgotten.

I also use a feather pillow which squishes down to almost nothing. I've never had a problem stuffing it into my suitcase even for international travel. Actually, for international travel, I usually stuff it into my carry on and have a nice sleep on the plane.

never bring my own pillow. I try to pack as light as I can so I can buy more to bring back and there would never be room for a pillow.

Most hotels we stay in have good pillows, but if we go on a long drive, say to Canada, then I like to bring along one of those little bean bag pillow things for the small of my back.

I personally have never taken a pillow on vacation, but I can see why some people might want to.
If I were Dr. Phil, I'd say it's probably the adult version of a "blankie."
As long as it is secreted away in luggage, I think it's fine.
I've seen people stashing theirs under the strap on their carry on luggage and toting the poor cheaply-clad limp thing on the plane with them as they board.
Frankly, that makes me concerned for their mental health.
(It also kinda creeps me out.)

I often bring my own pillow. Alas, I lost my favorite down pillow in Italy. Be sure to use a brightly colored pillow case, if you travel with your pillow so it doesn't blend in with the hotel bedding!

I took my 'bubba' on a car trip to Myrtle Beach once. Alas, it was never the same. First off, even tho it was a pastel, housekeeping swiped my pillowcase and the humidity gunked up the feathers and it had to be put to sleep....
