I am just wondering if most hotels and restaurants in Hawaii accept the discover card? I want to be prepared. Thanks!

Be very careful with the Discovery Card in Hawaii. My husband and I took it on our honeymoon last year and had nothing but trouble. Fortunatly we had a Visa card and it was allowed everywhere. The Discovery card is not very common in Hawaii, and several stores and restaurants, told us they had never heard of it before.

We also found last year that many places (especially restaurants and shops) didn't take Discover or AmEx. I'd be certain to have a MasterCard or Visa with me.

I live in Honolulu and I've found that it is accepted as much here as in Oregon or Southern California..which is 99% of the places, but you do need a backup. Love the cash rebate I get from Discover, so only use my (free) AOL Visa card when I have to. I always travel with two cards anyway, just in case one gets lost or stolen.
