Prayers, prayers and more prayers!

Oh Loisde, that is such tremendously good news! I know that it is going to be a long haul, but please tell Terrie we are pulling for her!

BayouGal Aug 28th, 2006 03:51 PM

My sister-in-law had the Gamma Knife procedure. Brain tumor 100% gone. That invention is incredible!

Thanks for the update, Loisde! :)

BayouGal Aug 28th, 2006 04:20 PM

BTW, the gamma knife is non-invasive. No surgeries to recover from - just the little holes where they screw into the skull to keep the apparatus and your head perfectly still and aligned. If you want to read about a true medical miracle, read about that machine!

Loisde, what wonderful news and thank you for sharing it! A reminder to all of us never to give up. And thank you BayouGal for your explaination. Loisde I am rejoycing with you and your loved ones!! ((R))

cmcfong Aug 28th, 2006 04:54 PM

Lois, I know you are not far from me , I am up here in Pinnacle about twenty five miles from you. But right now we share the same prayer and time. Several of the other people who have posted to this thread are survivors, as I am. Our hearts are lifted by your reminder. No matter how often the lesson is given, it helps to remember it. Take joy in every minute and be glad of the blessings. I hope the news you get from Terrie's doctors is good. Peace.

loisde: I am glad to hear your neice was given hope. I pray the procedure goes well.

nevermind: You are so right, it will help her grow even more beautiful wings. Its just hard on us Moms!!
Maureen B: DH, other DD and I plan to spend 10 days at Xmas with her. I hope to go a second time with my parents (DD grandparents) in March. That will break her year up into about thirds. Much easier to swallow!!
Thanks for the support, Fodor friends!
Hugs to Loisde!

Good news, Lois! And thanks for that information, BG. I had heard of this but with the name "knife," I thought it was some kind of new brain surgery. Which I guess theoretically it is.

I am having problems with the old ticker so not online much this weekend. Hopefully I'll be back to my old (very old) self soon and back up to tricks in Fodorville! ;-)

BayouGal Aug 28th, 2006 07:45 PM

SpeedBuggy, you take care of yourself. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

starrsville Aug 28th, 2006 07:58 PM

I wondered about you earlier tonight, SB. I thought you had been awfully quiet lately. Take care of yourself.

Does someone have your email address so we can check on you if you are too quiet on this board for too long?

Tiff Aug 28th, 2006 08:44 PM

cmcfong ~ your post brought tears to my eyes, I had no idea. Once again I feel quite lucky to 'know' you.

Speedbuggy ~ from my ((L)) to yours, sending healing thoughts and prayers.

LoveItaly Aug 28th, 2006 11:04 PM

This is quite a thread..we never do know what others are going through do we?

Cmcfong, a big special hug to you!

And Speedbuggy, so many wishes to you that you are alright! I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling physically well right now. Many prayers from me to you.

And Starrsville's post.....I posted here a few weeks ago due to a conversation in SF at a Fodor's GTG regarding a contact email in case one gets ill or whatever. Please, we do become close and care about each other here. Either have an email that another Fodorite has or advise a family member to post here if something happens to you and consequently you cannot post on Fodors.
There is nothing sadder than having someone just suddenly dissapear off of Fodor's without knowing why. That happened regarding Elvira and to this day so many miss her and wonder about her dissapearance from Fodor's. It is sad.

Tiff and LoveItaly, thank you for your sweet thoughts.
Lois, I hope you and Terrie are getting good news.

I too believe in the power of prayer and I will add Terrie to my list of people to pray for.

My son is ending is year in Japan. When he was leaving I decided we would HAVE to go visit him. Many bad money things happened over the next couple of months and my nerve faltered.
So I spoke to my cousin who had breast cancer at the age of 31 (She's now 44). I told her to talk me out of whimping on the trip.
She told me a story about a friend she had who moved here from France. She always wanted to take a trip there with her kids so they could meet their extended family. Well at 32 she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and was quickly too sick to travel.
I agree, you don't regret the things you do, you regret the things you didn't do.

I still owe more than half of what our 2 week trip to Japan cost. I don't care and I'd do it again.
We had such a fantastic time traveling with our 20 year old son. We had him to ourselves for two weeks, and he showed us many cool places in Japan. I consider it the trip of a lifetime.

AuntAnnie - I applaud your decision to visit your daughter. I cried an entire day when Evan left, my husband finally called my mom to come sit with me because he had to go to work and he was to worried to leave me alone. The time will fly if you are going to visit her.

My good news is I pick Evan up from O'Hare in two days!!
