Do I need snow boots for NC this weekend?

Going to Raleigh and then Asheville and weather forecasts look pretty good. I have a pair of insulated boots (they look like fur-lined hiking boots). Based on the anticipated temps and precipitation, doesn't seem like I need these.

Can someone on the ground there tell me if I can get by with a couple pairs of flats/loafers?

Thanks bunches,
cdg

You'll probably need something for up in the Mts.

What about if we're just visiting Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville?

Raleigh is just fine. We will be in upper 50s tomorrow and low 50s on Sunday. For Asheville, the boots will be nice if you are going to be walking around downtown - not only for the warmth, but also since there may be some slushy areas. Hope you have a great time!

you absolutely have to visit 12 bones bbq restaurant while you're in asheville. obama has been here twice and has eaten there both times. the river arts district location is open mon-fri and the s avl location is open tues-sat. they're only open in the afternoon, so go there for the best lunch of all time. it's supposed to be mid-50s this weekend so enjoy the wonderful weather!

It's going to be plenty warm, even in Asheville. Doubt there is any precipitaion on the ground there. Don't think you need the boots.

Not sure if you would need boots, but I'm not sure flats would be the way to go either.

Hey ya'll thanks for the replies. I've decided to go with riding boots and a pair of loafers. If I need anything more, which it doesn't seem I will, I'll just stop by a store/mall.

Looking forward to the nice weather. Bob, you're about the third or fourth supporter of 12 Bones. It's on our list. :)

If you need shoes don't go to a mall, go to TOPS downtown. It is the shoe motherlode in Asheville. For gorgeous wearable art, go to Bellagio.

This looks to be a perfect weekend to visit NC. Much warmer than it has been. Enjoy yourself.

Boots will only be needed if you're hiking in the mountains. Downtown, the only snow left are the piles scraped up in parking lots here and there. It's going to feel like Spring in Asheville this weekend!
