Do I need a car in East Vail?
I've read about the free shuttle and how convenient it is in Vail Village and Lionshead. It looks like we might be renting a place in East Vail. Will we still be able to use that same shuttle service, or will we need a car to go to dinner in say, Vail Village or Lionshead.
Also, someone mentioned that the shuttle service has limited hours late in the season. We'll be there from Mar.29-Apr.4. Will this leave us stranded? Thanks for the help.

Hi Kristin, depneds on how east you are. We stayed in east vail once and the shuttle took 45 min, we tried a cab and it was over 20.00 to the Village.
|
PS I think you would be happier in West Vail and the prices should be comparable. We rented a great condo there it was one suttle stop the the lift at the cascade and quick trip the
village. hope this helps.

Coskier----thx for your responses on this ski thread and others. I'm bummed 'cus the person in charge of lodging just booked East Vail. I was wary of the "only 4 miles from VV" advertisement. Rightly so, I guess. 45 minutes!!!!! We might be renting a car anyway-----will parking in Vail Village/Lionshead be awful? No matter what, we're gonna have a good time----just trying to make some of the rough spots less rough. Thanks

Kristin your going to have fun no matter the location! And you maybe alot closer than we were. We were about as East as you can go and not be in Copper!

As to parking, on weekends it can get pretty crowded as the free lot is tiny and fills up fast, it is by the Ford Ampitheater and you still need to take the shuttle. The garage cost 10+ a day. Last year they did give away a 20.00 food voucher for those that had 4 or more in the car so it was fine for us. Not sure if they will be doing that again or not.

You might ask how many stops bewteen your location and the Village, that will give you a better idea of how long the ride is. Are you staying is a condo? If so give the name of the complex and maybe someone more familair with Vail can tell you how long as well.

Snow today in Vail BTW chain laws in effect about 5+ inches!

Co Skier-so weird to read your last post-we were in Vail in shorts and tanks getting tans on Sunday! Gotta love CO weather!
|
Yes Ani changes fast! probably will be in shorts again this Sun but it is Fall in the high country. R U in Colorado? or on vacation how was it?
|
Co Skier-we live in Fort Collins-were there for octoberfest---GREAT time...absolutely beautiful. Where are you?
|
Split our time between Denver and Keystone. Missed last weekend though. Up this weekend to see the aspens turning. Ski Season Soon!

Sorry to hijack your thread Kristin.
|
Enjoyed the hijacking-----was just happy to hear the words "snow" and "Vail" used in the same phrase!!
I'll post a question once I hear what condo unit we're in. Thanks again for the info. Didn't realize we had to pay $10 for a parking garage and STILL take a shuttle. WOW Lots to learn, lots of questions still to post!!!!

Sorry Kristin was not clear on my last post. there is a free parking lot that then requires a shuttle to the Village, the garage does not.
