I'm supporting the flea hypothesis. The legs/ankles bites is a giveaway. They even could be in the rugs of your rented condo. They jump up onto one's legs etc and bite then jump down. Go to the store and buy a couple spray cans of flea killer and spray your rental esp. the rugs.

Take an oral antihistamine, too (Benadryl or Zyrtec), besides just a topical anti-itch cream. That really should help, too.

Bedbugs bite in a straight line pattern. I've had, unfortunately, 1 experience with them in Asia. Other insect bites have no pattern. Easy to tell the difference.

Yikes, I've never had a problem with sand fleas indoors! Good luck, OP.

Florida sand fleas are even in the grass. A lot of the yards are mostly sand instead of dirt. My first house was 45 minutes from the beach and we had them. Weirdly, you would be watching tv in a dark room and they would appear on the screen. Foggers did the job. Rubbing some alcohol on your legs and taking a benadryl will help. At least it's not mosquito or love bug season. lol

Fleas, sandfleas - or possibly what they call sea lice, which are the larva of something - you get those in the water and if you have been wading in the ocean.

And it is 10 degrees in Boston right now, with a wind chill well below zero, so I am only partially sympathetic to your plight.

I take off or cutter and spray around my chair. I use to have those grass mats but they really attract the sand fleas. I only get them if I have food with me so don't bring things to eat anymore. The no see ums bite around your head.

All my bites from the no-seeums were on my lower legs (a dozen+ of them). I had not been to the beach. These were not sand fleas or bed bugs.
