Do Bars close at 2:00am in atlanta?

Going to Atlanta for the weekend. Read somwhere that bars close at 2:00? If so, what's is up with that.
Also, I'm staying at the westin downtown is it easy to take the marta to midtowm and buckhead? Is it easy to walk from the marta's to the nightlife and is it safe?

I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. That is what time they close in California. Alcohol cannot be served here between the hours of 2am and I believe 6am. It is an attempt to put some controls on alcohol consumption. Whether or not it does any good, I don't know, but that is the rationale.

this site has a list for each state or city. Looks like Atlanta varies from 2:30am to 4:30am:

if you want to stay out late, New Orleans is the place to be! :)

Don't forget you can't buy liquor after midnight Saturday and all day Sunday- if you want anything you must go to a bar. Just in case you wanted to buy something Sunday.

Just be thankful you aren't going to Rhode Island where bars close at 1 AM!

I was just going to post that years ago you couldn't buy liquor in a bar after midnight on Saturday since then it was Sunday therefore bars closed at midnight on Saturday, but I assumed that had changed long ago. You mean it hasn't changed, Wednesday? Or do you mean that you can now get a drink in a bar after midnight Saturday, just not buy a bottle?
