Do airline prices go down after the holidays?
We're traveling to Scottsdale in April. Roundtrip is about $320 on SW. Someone suggested waiting until after the holidays, and that prices generally go down. I've never heard of this, and am inclined to go ahead and get our tickets while there is still good availability.
Is there anything to this idea that the airline prices drop after the holidays? Thanks, annieladd |
Certainly prices go down after the holidays. Prices are always lower during off peak travel dates.

Waiting until after the Christmas/New year holidays won't make any difference at all for flights in April.

Don't confuse purchase date with travel date. It is more expensive to travel during peak times - but agree with Barbara.
Depending on dates and origination city, April can be holiday time as well - Easter is first weekend, do not know when Passover is but likely during that time as well, and quite a few public schools in northeast US have a vacation week in April. |
Have no idea where you're flying from or exactly when in April, but just picking Baltimore as a starting point and mid April as a date, I see roundtrip fares of $218/person. From ISP at the beginning of the month it's about the same but VERY booked up already just after the Easter weekend.
Bottom line your price sounds high but I don't think it will go down, especially if it's around a holiday. From where are you coming that it's so high? You should be able to get about $100 in each direction. |
