DMB concert where to pick up kids

Any suggestions for a place to pick up kids after a Dave Matthews Concert at MSG? Also, is it a reasonable, safe walk from Grand Central to MSG, or is a cab a better idea?

Long walk to Grand Central from MSG. May I suggest the subway to Times Square and the S train to Grand Central.

It's both safe & reasonable for adults to walk from Grand Central to MSG. For non-adults, I think that's a judgment call based on maturity level etc. Depending on traffic, a cab very well could take longer than walking.

Regarding picking up concert goers, it's a madhouse after a concert, so I'd suggest selecting a location "nearby," such as in front of the Penn Hotel across 7th Avenue from MSG, or perhaps the Starbucks on the west side of 7th a block south of MSG. Or any other convenient landmark, corner, etc. Easy enough.

(I've seen DMB at MSG, and the show was fantastic! He plays to the critics, so be prepared for long jams -- plenty of time for a restroom break.)

It would be 2, 17 year old young men going to the concert. It would really take longer taking a cab to MSG? I have a NYC street map just am not very familiar with the area bet. GC and MSG. Thanks for help

Gekko, while I agree the walk isn't to bad, it is 10-12 blocks north and 3 or 4 cross streets east, a non New Yorker may think differently.

It's an easy and safe walk for two 17 year olds - straight up Broadway to 42nd and across to GCT will be the most entertaining for them although they should be able to just walk over 34th to Ave of the Americas or Fifth venue and then up - a bit shorter. Traffic will be a mess around MSG on boht sides but especially around the front side (7th Ave entrance by Hotgel Pennsylvania).
