Dive trip to the Keys
Hi, my husband and I are planning a fishing/diving trip to the keys the first week of Sept. and we're looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay that has a kitchen and a dock. We're mainly going down for Lobster season, so we're not interested in the touristy stuff. Any suggestions?

I don't mind roughing it at all. I actually looked into the KOA's but it seems that for $20 to $30 more I can have a real bed to sleep in. I know that my husband has stayed in Islamorada a few years ago at a timeshare that his family no longer has. So we really haven't had to look for a place until now.

These will give you a start www.fla-keys.com & www.floridakeys.com. Someplaces have websites, some don't. Rock Reef is fairly basic but clean & convenient. And not overly expensive (compared to some of the other places).

Check out Popps MOtel in Key Largo. I have friends that go there every year. Are you bringing a boat? They have a boat ramp - not sure if you can tie up at the dock.
If you get tired of cooking all that lobster, Ballyhoo's will cook your catch for about $10.00 a person. They supply salad and sides. They did a great job with our lobster last season.
