District Hotel
Has anyone stayed here? Is it safe for two elderly tourists to walk back to after the Phantom of the Opera?

A city/State would be helpful.

I haven't stayed at District, but I stayed next door at Staybridge Suites in May, 2015. These hotels are located on a very unpleasant stretch of 40th Street--across from a huge bus terminal. We were never able to get a taxi.
It is safe to walk from Phantom to District, but you won't feel safe late at night. (I don't know why anybody would want to stay in such a dismal location, but both hotels get great reviews on TripAdvisor.) In 2016 we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on 8th Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets, which is a great location for going to theaters. There is all kinds of good transportation nearby and there is no problem getting a taxi. HTtY |
I'm assuming NYC. When I saw the title I was thinking Wash. DC. But HTtY seems to know the property.
Next time it will help if you tag the state. |
I've stayed at that hotel - loved it. Was with my 40 year old daughter and even though it's near the bus terminal and parole board we felt quite safe walking and traveling around.

Thank you all. Sorry I forgot the city and it is New York. We'll be walking back after Phantom of the Opera and I wanted to be sure that was a good idea. New York is one of my favourite places, in a class by itself. Can't wait!

It's absolutely safe and it's a very short walk. It would be 5 minutes by distance, but with all the Times Square crowds, it may take you 10 or 15 minutes. You'll be walking with so many people (at least as far as 41st Street) that you will only feel unsafe if you have claustrophobia.
