distance to/from Muir Woods
 

Hi. We will be in San Francisco for a short trip. We are hoping to squeeze in Muir woods the morning on the day we leave for the airport. On a weekday, from San Fran (Union square area), how long would it take to drive to Muir woods in the morning (~9am)? How far/long to drive from Muir Woods to Oakland Airport?

An hour from Union Square to Muir Woods, and probably 1-1/2 hours from Muir Woods to Oakland Airport. Muir Woods is north of the city -- Oakland Airport is East, and there isn't a great way to go directly from Mill Valley to Oakland (no "hypotenuse").

The road is windy and slow. Allow extra time.

depending on when your departing flight is, 9am is a bit late to start out from SF. Muir Woods opens at 8am.

To go from Muir Woods to Oakland, go slightly North on #101. and then East over the Richmond Bridge towards Oakland and Berkeley. But it will take you about 1.5 hrs. Allow plenty of time so you are not stressed.
