Hi
We are planning to visit Disneyworld (all 4 parks- 6 days) next year.
We can either visit during the spring break (march last week) or during the summer months(July-August).
I know that it will be crowded during both these periods. But wanted to figure out which of the 2 choices would be less crowded than the other.

Can someone tell us if Disneyworld crowds are lower during spring break or during July-August?

In reality, they both are extremely crowded. Both are peak times for the resort. I am a native Floridian, and have visited hundreds of times. In my opinion, Spring Break is a better time to visit. Spring weather in Florida is generally beautiful, breezy, and mild. It is one of the best times to visit.

In summer, not only is it crowded, but intolerably hot. You also run the risk of encountering a tropical storm or hurricane. But for me, the biggest deterrent to summer travel were the overseas travel groups. I LOVE meeting people from other countries; don't get me wrong. But starting in July, huge groups of 13-16 year old kids come on these travel tours. There were literally thousands of them. They tend to "take over" a ride, as they all board at once...hundreds at a time. My family had a "run-in" with some of them, as they continually tried to pass us in line at Kilimanjaro Safari Ride in Animal Kingdom. When we tried to assert ourselves they acted like they couldn't speak english.

If you do choose to travel during either of these times, pay careful attention to the hours of operation, which are posted on Disney's website. With strategic planning, you can minimize the effects of the crowds by visiting certain parks on certain days. (Early risers fare the best!!!) The easiest park to get around in on a crowded day for me is Epcot, because it is very open and spread out. The least favorite is Animal Kingdom. I won't ever go there on "extended hours" day because EVERYONE is there, and it is so hard to get around.

I hope I didn't talk too much, but I love Disney so much. We were there for Christmas this past year, and it was crowded, but positively glorious Best of luck!!

Per this site the last week of march in 2013 has crowd level red rating of 8-10 for all 7 days.

Every week of summer from June to July it is less than 8-10.
August it is even lower.

Since I am going with 2 kids 5 and 6 year olds, long lines and crowds are something we would like to avoid. Heat is a problem yes. But if I have to choose between more crowds or heat, I might choose heat and just go well prepared.

With kids that young, I would take them out of school and go during school time in order to avoid crowds. We went in early May and it was great, not crowded and nice weather.

We rarely took our daughter out of school when she was in elementary school, but looking back, we wish we would have done it more. We always took school work along and she always did it.

Both will be very crowded but summer will be hellishly hot. Would definitely go in spring - before you get into the worst of the heat and humidity.

Have been there in Nov, Mar and late April. The first two were OK in terms of weather - but the latter was too hot for us - 80s during the day (when it's that hot I just want to sit in an AC room - not be wandering around in the sun all day).

I was just there last week. Yes it was hot and humid. If that is THE issue for you then go at another time.

Crowds? Sure there were lots of people but the on-site hotels we certainly not filled to capacity and, as always, a lot depends on how early you want to go to any of the parks.

The problem, sometimes, as people who live in Central Florida can tell you, is that it can be a bit cool for things like the water parks earlier in the year.
