DisneyWorld Passes _ Discounts??
 

I have secured my accomodations for WDW (off-site). Now I need to buy passes- Are there any real discounts available? I need 5-7 day park hopper passes...both for adults and kids.

No huge discounts, but you can get small ones by buying through a ticket broker like http://www.undercovertourist.com . I haven't used them but they are recommended by a couple Disney sites. If you're trip isn't too soon, go to www.mousesavers.com and sign up for their free email newsletter. Once a month you'll get a "secret link" for extra savings from UndercoverTourist. Their current price for a 6-day ParkHopper is $258.95 (adult), which is $20 off gate price.

Also, MouseSavers says WDW prices are rumored to go up on Sunday, so if you can prebuy your tickets now, you can also save a little bit.

xrae, no kidding about Sunday? They used to raise prices several times a year, and I think it's been a while, so that stands to reason.

I wish I could purchase the tickets now before they go up, but since I am buying about 9 tickets...and I just secured the accomodations...I will have to take the hit on the price increase :(

321go, all I know is what I read in the MouseSavers newsletter. I'm sure there's a discussion of the price increases on DisBoards, but I haven't been over there in a while.

Be very, very wary of deals that sound too good. We had a Disney VIP guide last Saturday and he was mentioning they have been getting a rash of people coming to the gates with expired tickets they purchased from discount ticket brokers in the area.

Good advice -- never buy "unused" tickets or "unused days" on tickets from anyone -- brokers or individuals. More than likely, you will not be able to use them.

Now if you have old family tickets sitting around that have unused days on them and don't expire, then using those is ok. But beginning a few years ago, Disney started selling the standard passes or "no expiration" passes. If you have unused days on those newer standard passes, they have expired now. You now have to pay extra for that feature, which used to be included in the tickets for free. Also keep in mind that if you have unused passes that you received before a particular park opened (Animal Kingdom, for example), then you will not be able to use those older passes to visit the new park. I ran into that issue years and years ago on spring break.

The reality is that the only discounts on disney tickets are puny and typically tied to some compromising activity on your part (timeshare presentation).

If the discount is significant, so is the con game.

The packages with on site rooms with tickets are the lowest it goes. If you can find some savings at undercover or mousesavers, good for you, but be wary of too good to be true.
