Disneyworld area home rentals - opinions please, and other side trips

Family of four plus aunt trying to plan Orlando trip for next summer. Have stayed on Disney property three times but would like more room (boys will be 10 and 17), need two rooms, and planning non-Disney day trips in addition to Disneyworld. Any opinions on Resortquest rentals? Thinking of doing Seaworld, Space Center. Boys are into baseball- any minor league teams around? Is Tampa a doable option? Other suggestions for day trips?? Not really interested in Universal Studios - not into rollercoasters or thrill rides and have been to the one in CA. Any opinions, ideas, suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I strongly recommend vrbo.com for rentals. I have used Vacation Rentals By Owner myself, and many of my friends here in Orlando have rented out their homes on it while they took THEIR vacations elsewhere.

I'm not even sure if there are still minor league baseball teams around here. Maybe a Braves team plays at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The minor league Yankees play in Tampa and I'm not sure where the Devil Rays play now - Tampa or St. Pete. Tampa is 90 minutes away.

Thanks Postal for your reply! Maybe the boys will just have to have "baseball withdrawal" for a week or so!

I second the recommendation for vrbo. We had a wonderful experience in November in a home in the Indian Creek development of Kissimmee. It was literally 5 minutes from WDW and near all the major shopping. The best part was the kids had their own pool to come home to and the adults had a jacuzzi to soak our tired feet! Would do it again any time!

I would also check out trip reports and recommendations from posters at the unofficial WDW site: www.wdwig.com
Many readers send in comments and you can get reports on which companies/ agencies people had positive experiences with.
