DisneyWorld

Wow! What a fun couple of days.

We didn't have nearly enough time but the week after Labor Day was the perfect time to go! We didn't wait in a single line - yes you heard that right - no waiting at ANY of the rides at Disneyworld. And we rode the most popular ones at least three times apiece!

We got last minute reservations at California Grill and sat next to the window. We ate ate the buffet at the WIlderness Lodge - that was the best meal we've had in a long time. By far the best buffet we've had.

My fiance did the Dive Quest Dive at Epcot.

We ended up buying a 5 day pass with no expiration so we could have a second vacation that was a lot cheaper than the first!

Ah, to be able to go at that time of the year!!! Of course, we won't be able to go without regard to the school calendar until I'm 56! By then will I feel too silly taking a Disney trip without any kids?

ronacele Oct 19th, 2006 06:22 PM

I hope not as I've just begun planning my first trip to Disneyworld and I turned 58 yesterday! (I'll be going without any little ones.)

NeoPatrick Oct 19th, 2006 07:00 PM

Disney World is wasted on the little ones; those of us over 50 are likely to enjoy it far more than the little ones! I've never gone with kids (except for the times I chaperoned high school seniors) and I still love it.

I agree with NeoPatrick. I don't think little children appreciate WDW nearly as much as we "older" adults do. As long as you are a child at heart, you will have a great time.

Our best Disney trip was with our kids, but I waited till they were 12 and 14. I'd love to go again. I guess I don't need the kids as an excuse.

My 51 year old husband LOVES Disney.

My stepchildren finally had to ask him to stop insisting we go every year.

pilot - how fun for you!

missypie - haven't you seen those commercials where the kids are gone and the empty-nesters are heading to DisneyWorld? I love that.

DH and I have gone by ourselves many times in our retirement. We absolutely love it! We even took my parents last year (75 & 80 yrs.), and they had a hoot!

My favorite time is the first part of December. The holiday decorations are up, and it's so festive and beautiful. The candlelight processional is a favorite, as are the gingerbread displays in the hotels and the light displays at MGM. I'm so excited to be going again this December!

Kopp--Our dates changed, and we will be at Disney earlier than planned. When are you going? Right now it looks like we will be there from Dec. 8th til the 12th, being over at Cocoa before that. That would be fun to meet you, if possible:)

Where is your favriute place to stay at Disneyworld and why?

jersey Oct 21st, 2006 03:46 AM

I love WDW. I loved both with and without the kids. And how fabulous to be there with no lines.

My DH is well over 50 and I'm pushing 50 and we will go again, alone or with kids/grandkids. I just have to save my pennies.

My fav place to stay is The Dolphin. Mainly because it's close to MGM (my fav park at WDW).

My favorite place is also the Swan/Dolphin. The location is great. Newar Epcot and MGM. Just a short walk to the Boardwalk. Also, we go without children and the Swan/Dolphin seems more "adult" than some of the other on site hotels.

We're going next week and taking my 80 yr old Dad for his "big" birthday. We go every year for the Int'l Wine and Food Festival and the "Party for the Senses". Definitely an adult time!
