Disneyworld
 

It continues to amaze me that millions of people continue to trek to Disneyworld each year, dragging their poor small children along with them. <BR> <BR>Long lines...HOT...expensive...what's the draw? It's got to be the shopping. Nearly every place one looks, Disney has a store in their parks, disguised as something else.

Why to we go back to Disney World? Hmmm... Let me think... I've been 19 times? Why? Because it's fun!! Some of us actually like it. Don't go. There will be more room for people like Joy and I.

Good Lord...you'd think I'd denegrated a national shrine or something... <BR> <BR>Okay...tell me what it is all you rude people like about Disneyworld? I would seriously like to know? Is it the crowds, the heat, the waiting in line, the crabby faced, baby pushing people, the real fact there are really no 'good' rides, the overpricing, etc, etc., etc.? Do you like to witness crabby parents screaming at their hot, tired children? <BR> <BR>I, too, have been to Disney at least 10 times in the past 8 years, all times staying on WDW property and I still don't see the draw. Each time we go we stay at least 10-days, so we certainly aren't rushed. I've gone with children from ages 2 on up to teens...the teens usually don't like it very much because the rides are 'boring'... <BR> <BR>Disney transportation was very slow last year. I wasn't as impressed as I had been in previous year. The busses were showing their age and it seems the transportation system hadn't kept up with the hotel growth. <BR> <BR>Animal Kingdom was awful. Again, lines for the popular rides were horrendous. Fast Pass was a joke. <BR> <BR>Oh, and p.s. I'm not stupid...so you d o n ' t h a v e t o w r i t e r e a l s l o w ;)or make me out to be an unlikeable person because I have the guts to question Disneyworld. <BR> <BR>What is the draw? <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>

Again, Maggie, if WDW is so horrendous for you, why have you gone 10 times in the past 8 years? Just curious.

We are going to Disney World to celebrate my 50th birthday in June. It is my favorite place. This will be the 5th time in 10 years. I have to admit I've never been there in the summer, but my son is 14 and he wants to see Universal Islands of Adventure and do some of the new things at Disney since we were there several years ago. It's not easy to find something fun for teenagers, so we've decided to do this. I know it will be hot and humid, but we love Disney and I wouldn't do it if I didn't enjoy it. It's a fun place and for the most part, Disney does it right. Yes, it's expensive and crowded, but what better place for a 50 year to feel like a kid again.

Sounds like you've just described, um, well... yourself! <BR> <BR>Seriously, you must really be blessed to be able to experience WDW 10 days at a time and stay on property. You might take a few minutes to be thankful for what you've been given, and stop complaining about what you've chosen to do with your vacation time and dollars.

For the same money, you could easily fund a trip to Europe. And i think that the kids would much more enjoy the experience of Paris or Venice than the pre-packaged sanitized 'vacation' world of Disney

geez, I agree w/ maggie. WDW is NOT kid friendly at all. Nor family friendly for that matter, based on the cost of taking a family there! Many others agree based on the reponses in the "worst vacation" thread. Why so defensive, WDW people??

How my children would laugh to hear you refering to them as "poor children" who HAVE to be dragged through Disney World. Perhaps it's because we always go at cooler, off peak times but we have never had anything but an awesome time. Then again, perhaps it is experiencing it all through the eyes of my children. The sheer joy of it all is awesome to watch. Going again in a month and can't wait!!
