Disney's California Adventureland
We are taking our children, ages 7 and 12, LA and can't seem to avoid something related to Disney. Any info/advice re: Adventureland?

I am one of the few people who has been to Cal Adventure. I say few, because the park was not crowded at all. There's enough to do there to keep you busy for a day, and my kids loved it. Particularly the new Soaring over California ride.

CA adventure is very different from Disney world and if you have not travelled all over CA with your children it is a nice day. Take a dry change of clothes and put them in a locker-going on all of your wet rides at the same time and change-you will have a much nicer day. The rides are fun and my 8 year old loved the Beast's Library in the animation building. Have a corn dog at the corn dog palace.

California Adventure is right next to Disneyland and you pay separate admission to each park. The admission is the same to both parks (approx. $45/adults, $35/kids), so if I were spending the money, I'd go to Disneyland. California Adventure is smaller than Disneyland and has fewer attractions. However, as a previous poster said, you'd probably find Calif. Adventure less crowded, and they did resurrect the Electrical Light Parade.

Not sure if it's limited to So Cal residents, but CA Adventure is offering a kid's rate for adults and one free child with each adult. With these rates, CA Adventure becomes more desirable. But if your kids have never had the opportunity to experience a Disney park before, then I'd definitely opt for Disneyland.

I went to California Adventure in February and wrote a long message reviewing it on this board. If you type "California Adventure" into the search engine for the site, you should find it.

We went to California Adventure and thought it was a big disappointment. We were expecting the usual Disney magic, which is severely lacking there. The only Disney-type attraction is the It's a Bug's Life, which is charming (and taken from one of Disney's Florida parks). We thought the rest of the rides were like any other amusement park's. We think Disneyland is more fun. We saw some people we know, and they also were done at California Adventure in a half day.

I too was disappointed with Cal. Adventure. Definately not as magical as Disneyland and the same price! Our kids love Disneyland. If you can stay at the Disneyland hotel you get passes to both parks and can come and go as you please. The hotel is right there and when the kids got tired we went and took a nap and went right back out. Very convenient!
