Disneyland travel question

Just wondering what airport would be most convenient when traveling to Disneyland. I will assume LAX, but wouldn't mind avoiding that if someone has a better idea. Also, we hope to avoid renting a car and would like to use some kind of shuttle service. Any tips?
Thanks!

John Wayne Airport. It's quite small.

John Wayne (SNA) is close and easy but might cost you more,

Might also check Long Beach (LGB) for options in addition to SNA. Not LAX.

John Wayne Airport (SNA) is 13 miles from Disneyland. Long Beach Airport (LGB) is 19 miles away. LAX is 35 miles away.

LAX is only convenient from the standpoint of airline choices. SNA is the best choice for distance to the park, and ten domestic carriers fly there. LGB has four domestic carriers (JetBlue the most notable), but makes up for that by being extremely user-friendly.

If you're ONLY going to Disneyland and don't care about getting out of Anaheim (after two days, you'll be chomping at the bit to get out of that town), Prime Time Shuttle and SuperShuttle operate out of all LA-area airports. If you want to explore the area at all, I highly recommend renting a car.

There is also an express bus that runs every 30 minutes-1 hour and stops at Resort Hotel. It runs from LAX and SNA. It's got giant Disney murals on it, you won't miss it. Some people find it just as convenient as the supershuttles if the timing is right.

mlgb: Offhand do you know where one catches those express Disney buses at LAX? Sometimes they put those services in odd places (like, say, rental agency shuttles or long-term parking buses). That service might be the best for the OP.

RJW, I'm assuming that it's at the signs that say "Busses" or something like that. I've seen them often, but have never taken one.

JOHN WAYNE BABY!! unless you want to suck diesel fumes and wait on the 405 freeway or the 105 (wo hoo) cuz the trafic is awful--then fly into John Wayne. easy in easy out. Ayers hotels offer great discounts on disney/hotel packages for up to 4 days. Just remember to allow 20 minutes lead time anytime you drive anywhere here. You may be on vacation but everyone else is working, so you will be dealing with that type of traffic.

Thank you! We will check out John Wayne and Long Beach.

Flying into LAX is easy and if you don't want to rent a car you could catch the Disney Shuttle Airport Bus that picks you up and takes you right to your hotel. It is very easy to do and cheap.

Grayline offer some good tours to all the usual LA and San Diego sights including Universal and Sea World.
Taking the bus makes for a more relaxing holiday. LA traffic can be a nightmare and take up valuable holiday time.

There is no contest - John Wayne! I was just there. It took me about one minute after landing to get to baggage claim (maybe 2), then about 1 minute from there to walk to Enterprise Car Rental. I arrived during rush hour, so it took 45 minutes to get to the hotel, but only 20 or so in the morning when I left.

I stayed at the Candy Cane Inn. I spent one night at the Ayres Anaheim too (which I really like), but they don't have free wireless and no shuttle to Disneyland anymore. Candy Cane was much closer.

Another option is Burbank...LAX no way, avoid at all cost.

I never hated LAX - but John Wayne is SO much more relaxing to fly in and out of. And much closer to Disneyland.
