One dining experience I enjoyed was the Crystal Palace. It is character dining set up for the children but adults can enjoy it too. The buffet is kid friendly. One thing...reservations in advance. Crystal Palace is at Magic Kingdom. Call from your room the day before or the day of...and Kevin...you must have hit Disney at a good time...when we were there it was CROWDED...so crowded that we waited one hour for Disney Transportation to take us back to the hotel a few evenings which is unusual for Disney.
Another thing about airfare...Air Tran is Value Jet repackaged. I'm sure you could have done better with any of the more well known airlines. Different prices on different days. I've paid as little as $139 on Delta from Boston. I usually look at web sites a good five months in advance of my trip. Every day if need be. Also call the airline and ask which is the cheapest flight out. I've heard that booking after 12 midnight is good (although I've never experienced it)...
While staying outside Disney property may seem cheaper, we've always stayed inside. Their hotels are excellent and transportation is good( I have no idea why it was so bad this past March other than it seems that wherever we've travelled this year crowds have been enormous. Also when you stay in the park you can go back to your hotel for a break during the day and go back to the park at night.
I'm not a Disney fan, but my husband is so I go...to me Disney is nothing but a money sucking enterprise. Think about what you really SAW in Disneyworld? I also think that it is the most expensive vacation y ou will ever take. Disney charges for just about everything. $6 to park your car? Plus whatever it cost you to get into the park? Disney is no bargain as far as I am concerned.
