Disney World Restaurants
 

We so wanted to go to Ohana's at the Polynesian, but they are all booked up in October, which is really hard to believe. Does anyone have an alternative place to go for dinner that is really fun and really great food?

Keep trying, there may be cancellations, and you can always try as a walk-in on day of visit, especially early or late. Kona Cafe is a good alternative. As for "fun", well, the whole day is gonna be fun, do you really need a fun dinner as well???

With kids I will suggest you look at the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge. Food is BBQ, etc but there are a lot if fun things for kids. Just make sure you are seated in the main room.

For adults, we really like the two places at The Animal Kingdom Lodge. Jiko is a menu service and Boma is buffet.

If entering the Park, I think EPCOT had some good options. The Japanese Tepanyaki for example.

Clark you are right on the "Fun" Thing you have a very good point and very funny...probably be sick of fun!

There's no such thing as too much fun!!

"really fun" and "really great food" are often mutually exclusive at WDW. They have some good, fine dining restaurants but screaming kids would be out of place.

Another option that comes close, in Epcot, is the Coral Reef restaurant in the Living Seas pavilion -- one wall is made of glass and abuts directly into the main aquarium tank. Lots of sea life, and occasionally a "Scuba Diver Mickey" will swim across.

Coral Reef food is "decent to good" but not "great", IMNSHO.

My favorites are: 1)The Hoop-dee-doo Review-awesome dinner show whith delicious food. It's at the Ft. Wilderness Campground and makes for a whole evening of adventure. The also have horse-drawn carriages. Or, just take a free boat ride across the lake.

2)Boma's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's a really amazing buffet with different flavors from Africa. They have plenty of "kid" food...just in case. Macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, etc. Go at sunset and watch the animals coming back onto the "savannah."



3)Oktoberfest (inside Epcot). Located in the German pavillion, it features live entertainment, dancing, German servers, and tons of all you can eat food.


Whispering Canyon is a good alternative for Hoop Dee Dee if you don't want to spend more for a "show." Great BBQ!

Honestly as much as I love the world there aren't many "great" restaurants. There are a few "signature' restaurants that you'll get a good meal but they generally aren't what i would call "fun". I do like Boma but it can be a challenge if your kids are not adventerous eaters.

For the most fun, T-Rex and Rainforest cafe both in DTD will do and you do not need reservations (or adr's as they are called) but the food is definitely "chain" quality. not bad but definitely not "great"

Ever since they upgraded their Disney Dining Plan, it has been impossible to reserve any of the popular restaurants and its a shame. Plus, they're celebrating their 40th Anniversary in October so everything will be packed, no matter where you go. I have tried unsuccesfully to reserve both O'hana and Le Cellier so many times this past year and a half. Im going this weekend, a trip i planned back in March, and even in March both restaurants were booked. I've become obsessed with checking the website every day and still- no availability. Such a bummer :(

Go to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/listing/ to see what's available. The site will list everything available for your chosen time. Your choices for Dining on a Disney property in October might already be somewhat limited.
