Disney World Honeymoon on a budget?
 

Is it possible to have a honeymoon in Disney World on $2000 including everything - airfare from NJ or NYC, resort, food, theme parks. Is this manageable? What hotels should I look into?

We'd be going the first week of October. Either 5-7 nights, whichever we could afford.

there is a deal for $1500 at the value resorts for a family of four for 7 nights, including tix, so it should be cheaper for two.

Yes, it is very do-able. Your first stop should be www.Mousesavers.com. You are going shoulder/off season.

Last fall I got the Disney Pop Century Resort for $49 per night by using a discount code I found on Mousesavers.

You can fly a discount airlines into Orlando.

If you stay on property, you don't need a car. Disney has fantastic public free transporation.

Let them know it is your honeymoon.

They are discounting Park Hopper passes.

I think you could easily get airfare for around $200 ($400 for both) and if you room is $50 per night, that is $350. With Seven Day Park Hoppers for the two of you coming in around $250 ($500) that brings you in around $1250 which leave $750 for spending money.

Yes, you can do it. The least expensive
on property hotels are Pop Century, All star Resorts, and mid are Port Orleans French Quarter, Riverside, and Carribean and Coranodo may be mid priced.

I like staying in WDW and using their free transportation system. I find it easy ,convienent and reliable.

We honeymooned their and they gave us a few upgrades and freebies, make sure that you let them know.

Just one thing - keep in mind that the less expensive hotels are usually PACKED with kids - they are usually aimed at them - in terms of style and facilities - not at adults.

Since it's off season - you may want to look for deals at some of the off-Disney properties (for instance Hyatt Grand Cyprus) for a more adult feel.

Disney just started a program called "Disney's Magical Express" where you can check your baggage in at your airport and it is checked through all the way to the Disney Resort. They also provide the shuttle from the airport to the resort. It is currently a free service to Disney resort guests but you have to let them know in advance that you want to use the service.

All Star Music is considered the most grown-up of the Disney value resorts.

Disney offers a discount when you order your passes in advance. Also, your first 4 days are the most expensive part of the pass - they add additional days for very little extra expense.

Since it might be nice to stay at a nicer resort than the value resorts, I suggest you check out mousesavers or the disboards. They have a section about disney vacation club members renting out their points (which Disney allows). I am going next money and got a studio condo at boardwalk villas for around $100 a night. Both of the sights listed have all kinds of deals listed. Plus signup for the mousesavers newsletter because it usually will have a link to discount tickets through places like ticketmania. I got a 5 day hopper for just $3 more than a 4 day hopper. goodluck, itsv

nytraveler, dan is going to Disney the first week of October. Since kids are traditionally in school at this time, I doubt any Disney Resort will be over run with kids.

It depends on what you mean by overrun. And the least expensive resorts do tend to get the most families - esp with multiple kids

If I were on my honeymoon - I would want a strictly no kids place - come to think of it I would prefer that for all my vacations. .

I stayed at the All-Star Music last winter and there were plenty of kids, but they all stayed in the main pool and left the piano pool empty. It's definitely not overrun. (Besides, if kids bugged you, you probably wouldn't be honeymooning in DIsney, right?) If you want a more relaxed, honeymoon feel, I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort a few years ago and loved it -- it's only around $120 a night even without discounts, and has lots of pools, a mini-beach, and really cute Caribbean-style buildings. Also, look into the Atlantic City or Philly airports -- sometimes you can get a flight as cheap as $140. Happy honeymooning! :)

Consider also Coronado Springs. Its a moderate resort on property with a southwestern feel. Its very attractive and kind of romantic with all of its courtyards with fountains. Its also a convention hotel for WDW so there are little extras in the room - like a coffee pot and hair dryer - that are not in the other moderate resorts. (Of course that could have changed in the 18 months since we stayed there)

Consider spending 4 nights near Disney and then 3 on the coast at the beach. You could fly into Orlando, then fly home from Tampa or Ft Myers or Daytona...renting a car one way should be very cheap in Oct.
