Our previous experience at several of the on-property hotels has been this: we have always arrived early in the day with the idea of getting into one or more parks for as much of that day as possible.
Rarely, if ever, has the "room been ready" when we showed up.
We have never had a problem with luggage storage and often the folks outside the front dorr have collected what we asked them to collect and have tagged the pieces and stored them.
At the check-in our info was taken; usually gotten the park tickets and now the whole thing is loaded onto one card and off we went. IOW, other than being IN the room yes, the entire park, the hotel, the pools, etc., etc., were fully at our disposal and we planned for that accordingly with clothing, swimsuits, etc.
The hotels WANT YOU to go elsewhere either into one of the parks or to the pool so you can "enjoy" the experience.
