Disney World

Hi.
As the last part of our 4 week holiday in Dec 2003-Jan 2004, we have planned on taking our 10yr old son to Disney World.
Any ideas on hotels? Is 4 days enough time to see everything? Is there anyone out there who has been there and could share some inormation about it?
Thanks
Veronica

The best place to find info on WDW is www.disboards.com Have fun!

Austin is right disboards.com and its homepage, wdwinfo.com is a great info source. Also check out wdwig.com as well as disneyworld.com Four days is not enough to see everything. That is a busy time at WDW. As far as where to stay, I would choose on site if possible but Disney resorts are expensive. I think budget is one of biggest factors. The All Stars are fun though esp for kids - the rooms aren't huge but they are adequate for a family of four so I am sure with 3 you'll be fine!

A nice place to stay is The All Star Hotels. My cousins just stayed there with their two kids and there seemed to be enough room. They are reasonable for Disney property. Also it's part of the disney experience to stay on the property!
4 days is not enough time to see EVERYTHING but you would have enough time to see the main attractions... but do a little research first to cut down on time.
Since you are going with a 10 year old you will probably have the most fun at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom depending what your tastes are.
The web site gives quite a bit of info. The best book to get before you go (Gives great info) is the Unofficial guide to Disney World. I get one every year.
At MGM a couple great places to go to eat are the SCi-Fi and Prime time Diner. Both are lots of fun.
I would say just get a dessert at the Sci-Fi. Food is not great but it's lots of fun.
Have a great time!!!!

If you like thrill rides, skip a day at Disney and go to Universal's Islands of Adventure!

Depending on the 10 year old, I agree that he may like Universal better. If he likes big huge rides, Universal has more of that than Disney. If you can take a week, you can do pretty much of Disney and Universal both. Otherwise you will have to pick and choose. To sort through the many choices we had to make, we used a book called "Walt Disney World With Kids" by Kim Wright Wiley. It was invaluable in deciding which attractions were best for the age of children we had with us. I have been to Orlando twice and varied our trip quite a bit the 2nd time because the children were older. This book also has chapters on Universal Studios as well. Either way, enjoy!

As they add more theme parks to Orlando area, the question of enough time to see everything is more difficult. You certainly need more time than 4 days to see everything, but I am not sure anyone would enjoy a trip of the length necessary to see everything. That would take well over a week, and I, personally, would suffer theme park and vacation overload well before I saw everything, even with unlimited time and money.

Do your research, decided what you most want to see, and save something to dream of later.

Disney is so large that 4 days is not enough to see everything. However, if that is all the time you have then you must make hay while the sun shines.

You can take him to the Magic Kingdom for two or three days and he will have a ball. There are things in the MGM park that he will enjoy as well as Epcot, however, at age 10 he will want to ride Space Mountain and the Haunted Mansion and all the other great attractions in the Magic Kingdom, more than the other parks. 4 days in the Magic Kingdom will be terrific for a 10 year old, and you'll have fun too.

If you can afford to stay on the Monorail, then by all means do so, as the kids love riding on it and it will make you life much easier too!

Try the Contemporary Hotel or the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian for a Disney Hotel on the Monorail.

Enjoy your trip....

Four days is time to see a few parks and have a lot of fun but not nearly enough time to "see everything."

Go to www.wdwig.com and the Disney website and really take a look at all the attractions. Decide which ones you want to do and plan accordingly. There's a LOT to do at WDW and you won't do EVERYTHING in four days, but you certainly could do everything you want to do by doing some research first.
