Disney just for Kitch??
After desperately trying to find a "deal" to go on a long weekend trip (Columbus) and finding not much of anything, we 29 year old best friends began discussing Disney. One has never been..the other went at 8 and it rained the whole %$#@ time.

If we go ahead, lose our minds and get a package (I lied..there are some cheap deals, most to Orlando!) and go for 3 nights, is it crazy to go to Disney just for a day or two for kitch value? I assume the crowds are down this time of year...not gone, but down. Having no kids, I imagine we can get around a bit faster than those toting strollers...

Is there ANY nightlife for grownups in the area? Has anyone any experience doing Disney as a "grown-up" with no kids?

This is just a maybe so far...personally, I'd rather find a trip somewhere else, but it's time to get the hell out of dodge for a couple of days...so we may make the best of it no matter what!

I know a bunch of posters just plain hate the whole Disney experience...totally fair, point taken...but these are two people looking to laugh for a few days, no expectations of grandeur! Kind of like going on a road trip and eating only at establishments with plastic animals on the roof. Kitch.

Thank you in advance...

Disney really isn't very good for KITSCH value. You'll have real fun, I think, since you're going with friends.

Epcot is the most fun for adults. You can drink your way around the World Showcase and Illuminations are the best nightly fireworks in Disney. As far as being crowded, keep in mind Disney always has some stupid thing going (Soap Star Weekend, Pin Trading Weekend) as well as a lot of conventions so it could be crowded. For deals check out www.Mousesavers.com. There are some unbelievable deals for on site property there. I got the All Star Music for $49 through them.

Fran,
Of course you'll have fun. The Magic Kingdom is a hoot and there are some fun rides. Epcot has a lot of interesting thigs to see and do, and there are a couple of neat rides there too. MGM Studios is GREAT with lots of interesting stuff to see, and again, some fun rides.
But don't limit yourself. Go to Universal Studios, too. Do some of the 3-D motion simulator rides (BAck to The Future, Spiderman), check out their new Islands of Adventure and the Hard Rock Hotel.
And Disney has an adult area on Pleasure Island with music and adult beverages.
Just laugh and have a good time.

MY husband and I have done Disney without kids and had a great time. However, you will only have fun if you stop thinking you are too adult and mature for Disney. Don't go there thinking you are above it all. Just let your inner child out and have fun. For adult activities, try Pleasure Island. You can also try Boardwalk near Epcot.

Thanks for the encouragement...we'll see what we can find!

and ilisa, um, I'm pretty sure I didn't initmate that I was "thinking (I am) too adult and mature for Disney"...that really has nothing to do with why I asked. I'm not above anything...I was just looking for a little information from people who had done the trip without the kids. Thanks for the helpful part of your reply.
