Disney Florida/ Crowds and Weather
Hi, looking to take 2 teens in June or July. Is it deadly hot? How about the crowds - was there in Jan and never got on any rides. Any advice would appreciate it. We are traveling from Boston over a weekend.
Very Very Hot...... but TONS on fun. If you can go the first week of June the crowds aren't quite as bad, but anytime else during the summer they are. However, you will have a great time. Make sure and play in the water parks. It's a great way to cool and and lots of fun. Half of making a great vacation is having a positive attitude. Just know going into it that it will be hot and crowded. Some of our best vacation memories include trips to WDW in the summertime........

My advice would be to get to the park at rope drop with your ticket in your hand. Ride the most popular stuff right away. When lines start to form, get fast passes for any popular attractions you missed.

My experience was that, although we stayed on Disney property and had early admit privileges, we did not go to parks that had early admit that day. Getting there for rope drop on an early admit day was just too darn early, and some experienced people say that parks with early admit get especially crowded.

Also, take them to Blizzard Beach. Teens will love it.

I completely agree with Dorrene. It will be hot and crowded, but if you prepare yourself for it you can have a great time.

.....like standing in a hot wok....and what could be worse than this??....waiting in a line for 2 hours to get on a ride that last 3 minutes. i wouldn't go to Disney during the summer if it was free.......and it is for me.

I have been to Orlando several times. I usually go in the latter part of August because the kids that are in Florida are back in school. June and July should be wall to wall people because the kids in Florida are out of school.

When I go, it is crowded but not that crowded. You usually will find a lot of Europrean tourists on vacation in August. The weather there in August wasn't all that bad. It was in the upper eighties.

Whenever you go, have a wonderful time.

I suggest going in the evening as the little ones have gone back to the hotels and the lines are shorter and even though it is still hot and muggy the intense sun is out of the picture. Disney stays open late in the summertime and usually has fireworks or did a few years ago. I am with the above poster on Blizzard Beach. Our group had more fun there than anywhere in Orlando. Great time.

I've read that they have a new ride reservation system, so you don't have to stand in line very long - this might help !
Was there couple weeks ago. Temps in mid 80's. Also, teen kid went there week later on school trip. My comments.

It's hot. No doubt about it. But not as humid as N East coast cities.

Now that FastPass is in effect, expanded & improved, lines won't be a problem. Over Easter week, we were able to get on all the popular rides without waiting > 20 minutes (at the most). Fastpass works like this: you insert your tickets into a machine at the ride, and get a time to return. The time span is one hour. After 2 hours, you can get another Fastpass for another ride. Example. Go to Splash Mountain at 11am and get Fastpass ticket. Return time printed on Fastpass: 2:15-3:15. Anytime between this time we get into a 'fast' line. Then, 2 hours after 11am, we get another Fastpass to, say, Space Mountain. This way, you can manage to do less crowded stuff inbetween the major rides..

My teen loved the water parks. Any and/or all. Plus, renting a sea mice (mouse?) on Bay Lake. Rent from many places.

If you couldn't get on a ride in January - watch out for the summer! :) It will be brutally hot, so take care of both issues by getting at the park EARLY - a half hour BEFORE the scheduled opening and go directly to the most popular ride at the park. Get out of there in the middle of the afternoon, and go to a water park or Disney Quest. Be sure to use the FAST Passes. They are wonderful and save tons of time. I recommend the dinner shows at the Grosvenor hotel. MurderWatch Mystery Theatre is on Saturdays, and Treasure Chest Quest on Wednesday nights.
Here are some specific tips for beating the lines: At Magic Kingdon - Go directly to Splash Mountain first thing in the morning. Then to Thunder Mt RR and the Haunted Mansion. Someone get a FAST Pass for Space Mountain, while the rest hold the space in line at Buzz Lightyear (yes, even teens will love this video game ride!) At MGM: Go directly to Rockin' Rollercoaster while one person picks up the FAST Passes for Tower of Terror and then joins you in line. At Animal Kingdom: First thing, go to Dinosaur, then to the Bugs Life show. At Epcot, Test Track is the biggest draw, so do that first. Enjoy!

During Easter (Good Friday) the park was wall-to-wall with people. The most popular attractions had lines longer than 60 minutes. We managed to get there at opening time, stay there until 1 pm, went back at 6 pm and left at midnight. We saw absolutely everything, some attractions more than once, and we did not stand in line for more than 20 minutes. The fastpass system works excellently! Maybe you will walk a bit more, but it sure beats standing in line...

Go to park 1st thing and do a few must do's. THen go (noon) to hotel, water park, hotel (nap, swim) whatever, just leave park, return at about 3:30 or 4:30 and stay til 2hours after close. You certainly wont feel drained. I do it everytime, a fla res who can only go in the dead heat and massive crowds. I have 3 kids, 3,7,10. Hope this helps. and we did NOT stay on property. GOOD LUCK
