Disney at Easter?
 

I know it is going to be busy, but our grandchildren have to go in the holidays. We are arriving on March 27th & I just wondered if it might be less busy than the week following Easter? I live in hope!! Anyone have any thoughts on which would be the best day to do Disneyworld? Would it be better to wait until the Monday 29th ,as Sunday would be busier!

Diane: It will probably be crowded whatever day you choose. Get the "Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World". It has plans laid out to beat the crowds and make the most of your time. Also check out websites specifically for WDW such as allears.net

I know most people and schools don't want kids to miss classes, but we took our daughter out of school (7th grade) for WDW and went in early May. I was so worth not fighting the crowds and her school work didn't suffer.

I have been there a couple times during Easter break. The beginning of the week before Easter will be your best bet. It gets more crowded the closer you get to Easter

Don't know that this is true always, but find almost all Theme Parks, including Disney, to be the least crowded on Sunday Mornings.

We live in South Florida & Spring Break for public schools is that entire week prior to Easter. I went to WDW 1 time around Easter & it was a nightmare, but if you must go at that time....you might google "disney busy days" or something along those lines & there is a "crowd level calendar" which estimates which days will be busiest.

Easter is the busiest time at Disney. Maybe 4th of July tops it, but unlikely. During super busy times, they will close a park. So, even if you are staying on site, you won't get in if it closed. It gets THAT busy. Having said that, people still go and make cherished memories. You just really, really need to plan.

If you do not already have reservations for dining (and wish to do a character meal or something like that) make them ASAP.

Disboards is a great resource. ANY question you can possibly imagine has been asked and answered there. Go there and poke around...you will learn a lot...maybe more than you want! I am also a fan of Tourguide Mike. You need to pay to join his site ($20?) but I found the information there invaluable.

I love Disney and have been there many times over the last few years. I'd also suggest disboards and mousesaver as good sites for all kinds of Disney info.

You have been given a lot of good advice, and good websites to check out. We love Disney, and the only time we have gone is during the Easter/Spring break. We are going again this year, and arrive the same day as you. We are staying offsite for the first time due to budget issues, and I hope it works. Good that you bought the unofficial guide, and make sure you follows their directions. We did, to the moaning of my then 13 year old daughter, and we zipped through so much before the crowds even came. Afterwards she was just fine, when she could ride Everest for a second time without waiting for too long. That said, we probably were there first thing in the a.m. and left by 2:00 p.m., and then came back for dinner and rides. You should make reservations for all of your dinners before going.

I do wonder; however, if Disney is going to be as crowded due to the economy. Have a great time.

my son is busy writing out THE PLAN for all the parks from the guide & says we have to get there an hour before opening. I haven't looked to see what time they open yet, but sure he has it in hand! We will eat outside Disney, there seem to be so many restaurants & I have been Googling a few.

Think i agree that maybe with the economy as it is, maybe it won't be as crowded. The last time we went at Easter was 20 years ago & I can't remember it being too bad.

The good news is that the weather then should be fabulous. Beautiful clear skies, warm days and no rain!
The bad news is that as you get closer to Easter, the crowds will be VERY heavy. We go to WDW a lot and only at Easter-time have I actually had to wait in a long line for Pirates of the Carribbean, a ride that we usually walk right onto.
You should really try and familiarize yourself with what is what beforehand. "Disney World" is comprised of 4 separate parks plus 2 water parks. Have family members choose some "must-dos" and go from there.
Keep in mind that you cannot possibly "do it all" in one trip. Getting to the parks early, having a plan as to what and where you're doing and then relaxing in the afternoons back at your resort will all make for a "magical" vacation ;)
