Disembarkation and catching a flight
 

I will be disembarking from a cruise ship at the NYC Passenger Ship Terminal on a Saturday in the summer at 10:45am. What time do I need to schedule my flight to North Carolina out of Laguardia Airport?

The port of New York has several areas where cruise ships dock.

Will you be alanding in Manhattan, at Red Hoos in Brooklyn or in one of the ports in New Jersey?

And = is 10:45 when the arive? If so it will take a couple of hours to get everyone off the ship.

The Termianl is on 55th St and 12th Ave on the West Side of Manhattan.
The ship arrives much earlier but 10:45 am is the time I will be getting off the ship.

To be safe you should arrange for a car service (Carmel or Dial 7 or whatever) to meet you at your desired time. Asume 45 minutes to get to LGA (or an hour if there s bad traffic or?) and then check in 2 hours prior to flight time.

That should give you a good window of safety in case anything untowad occurs.

I had a noon flight booked so you think I should change it to after 01:30pm?

I would definitely change it until after 2:00 at the earliest.

Yes...I would schedule a flight home no earlier than 2:00. You will never make 12:00.

When you get off the ship, you'll still have to claim your baggage. It took my family almost an hour for baggage when we disembarked a cruise in Miami.

Noon is impossible, especially if you have checked bags. The 1:30 would probably be ok, but you have to ask yourself the question 'what are my options if i miss that flight?'

On some airlines you can do same day standby for free, or for $25 to get a guaranteed seat without having to wait till departure time to find out. AA has numerous flights from LGA to RDU throughout the day, so if that is what you're flying.

Me personally I'd book the 1:30, but I've also been known to leap the gap from the jetway as the plane was backing away from the gate I've cut it so close.

If, per chance you get off the cruise and to the airport early enough to get on the noon flight you should be able to catch that one if there are open seats.
