Discounted Broadway tickets for foreign students
Hello Broadway lovers,
I have a seemingly simple question (but can't find a clear and concise answer from the net)......can foreign students avail of discounted Broadway tickets? My twin nieces from Sweden are visiting NYC this summer and are interested in watching a couple shows and being the great uncle that I am, I would love for them to see a couple of shows.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks much!

There are lots of ways of getting discount tickets, some of which have nothing to do with being students. Here's info on student rush and lottery tickets.

Here's info on how anyone can get discounted same day tickets

Here's info on getting even better discounts if you live over 100 miles from NYC (but they'd need a computer to check daily). http://www.tdf.org/TDF_SupportPage.aspx?id=76
The left column of broadwaybox.com offers discount codes that can be used usually 1-3 months in advance to buy online, by phone, or printed and brought to the box office when they arrive. Playbill.com and theatermania.com offer similar options if you register for free on their websites.

Sometimes shows that are about to close and having trouble selling seats will sell "student discount" seats - but you don;t really have to be a student - and where you come from is immaterial. However, this doesn;t happen that often.
Choices listed above are better.

Thanks much for the responses especially Mclaurie's! This isn't a Fodors forum for nothing. At the risk of sounding redundant, will these theaters accept foreign school IDs? I don't have a definite answer for that yet.
