discount code for car rental

seeking assistance from anybody who might have a discount code for any of the rental companies i.e. hertz, avis, etc. thanks a lot in advance!

Try the search feature for "rental car codes".I did and it came up with numerous postings.

YOu can get a better price on Priceline. We got a $25 a day in NYC which shocked us since the price is usually $75.

Try "LAST" for Hertz, within one month of trip.

harry r, what search engine are you referring to? google? askjeeves?...etc

HarryR Mar 1st, 2006 11:02 AM

The search feature at the top of the Fodors page. It searches for previous postings on a particular subject.

FYI the search engine on Fodor's is horrible. For example, I typed in "car rental" and this thread did not even come up. Best to go to google.com and click on advanced search, then type in fodors.com under domain.

this is a good site for car rental codes that i found. http://www.rentalcarmomma.com/

I use my AAA code, and car rental agencies ALWAYS ask for proof of my membership.

Have a car booked for April but thought I'd try your web site rentalcarmomma to see if I could get it cheaper. It is $27.00 MORE for same car same days using that web site as opposed to using the car rental direct! What did I do wrong?

mireaux7 Mar 1st, 2006 03:57 PM

well, theres a myriad of different sites out there that promote the use of discount codes, it appears you may have found a better one. i have also found a forum site that discusses where different codes can be found and how they can be used. you may find this to be beneficial. www.betterbidding.com

Not a "discount" site. I dealt directly with the car rental company at the airport.

Thanks mireaux7...
That site just saved me 40+ on a one day, one way, midweek rental in Denver.
Avis is the only vendor that qualified and I could not get the cost below 110.00.
That http://www.rentalcarmomma.com/ worked perfectly for this difficult booking.
FYI... I have paid 70.00 for the ONE WAY rush hour trip from Denver a/p to Downtown Denver.

That rentalcarmomma site is interesting. I was pricing several rental possibilies for California this summer just yesterday. The best I could do with "momma" were all 25% higher than I was getting direct. Funny enough the lowest they came up with for an LAX to LAX rental was with Dollar, exactly who I had found was the cheapest by going direct with Dollar and not using any special discount code. But Dollar's rate for 3 weeks was $411, while Momma's rate through Dollar for the same car and the same dates was $529 -- marked "special internet discount". Huh?

You sure have to check the prices, and don't assume that any coupon or discount code is really the best. Sadly Priceline doesn't let you book one way rentals, it just sends you back to the direct websites for those.

I found a little better prices using the "car rental" link on united airlines website - www.ual.com.

The entertainment book coupons are often a good deal.
