Could someone give me walking directions from where you get off the ferry coming from Ellis Island to go to Ground Zero?

The ferry to Ellis Island arrives at Battery Park. Walk away from this tip of Manhattan and you'll run into either State Street or Battery Place. Bowling Green is a the intersection of these two streets, so, if you're there, you're heading in the right direction.

From Battery Place, you can walk uptown along either Trinity Place or Broadway. If you are on either road, in a few blocks you'll come to Liberty Street. Turn left for one block if you are on Broadway. The intersection of Trinity Place and Liberty is a construction site that is Ground Zero. You'll find a fence with some markers and photos in memory of September 11th.

Take Greenwich St. north from Battery Park to a fork in the road. Go to the right which is Trinity Place. This will take you right up to Ground Zero.

All around that area is a construction site because they are taking down the last building that was damaged on 9/11. The project is the largest building ever taken down, because it can not be imploded, so there are now fences all over the block south of the Trade Tower site.

My suggestion would be to walk north on Broadway that way you walk by Trinity Church (on your left) and Wall St (on your right) up to Liberty St, (which is where the Merrill Lynch Building is (there's also a small park)and you can see "ground zero" from there.

Also as you start up Broadway, you will pass The Customs House, which is where the American Indian Museum is located.

As you walk through Battery Park look for the "globe" that was part of the World Trade Center. It was damaged by the buildings collapse, and it is part of a memorial with an eternal flame and people still leave flowers and notes there.
