directions from palm springs to laguna beach

Hello, this is my first time going from Palm Springs to Laguna Beach California. I would appreciate any recommendations on the best way to get there. I searched Yahoo maps but was not
sure this is good road.

Thank you for any help

Simple. From Palm Springs, take the I-10 West (toward Los Angeles) to CA-60 West (also toward LA) (you will bear left). Then take CA-91 West to Riverside/LA/Beach Cities.

You will then take CA-55 South (Newport Beach) (bear left) to the I-5 South (San Diego). Take the Crown Valley Parkway exit, turn right on Crown Valley Parkway, then follow to Coast Highway, take a right, and follow into Laguna Beach.

rjw_lgb_ca usually knows whereof he speaks. In this case, however, he is leading you astray - and also out of your way.

Follow his directions until you are on the I-5 southbound then take C-133 west. It becomes Laguna Canyon Rd and will deposit you into the center of Laguna Beach right at Main Beach. Going all the way to Crown Valley Parkway will take you 7-8 miles too far south and then when you get to Pacific Coast Hwy, you'll have to backtrack those same 7-8 miles.

An alternative and more scenic route is to take the I-10 to C-60 to C-91 to I-15 (not I-215 which you'll reach first) and then turn toward San Diego. At Lake Elsinore take C-74 (The Ortega Hwy) to San Juan Capistrano across the Cleveland National Forest. Take I-5 north to Crown Valley Pkwy, west to PCH, and north to Laguna Beach.

As a less scenic but faster and shorter route than either of the previous two, follow his route until you are on the C-91. When you reach the C-241 toll road, take it west to the C-133, follow C-133 west until it becomes Laguna Canyon Rd on on into Laguna Beach. The tolls will total about $5 but you will save about 25 miles and, depending on traffic, anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

Enjoy your trip to our Paradise on the Pacific.

dwooddon gives good alternate routes. The one I suggested might be slightly quicker by the clock, since CA-133 (Laguna Canyon) is windy. Either of dwooddon's routes would be fine, and there would be more scenery.

Hi ellen!! I think for your purposes, take Laguna Canyon/CA-133 eastbound out of LB all the way up to I-5, then head north till you hit Disneyland. Direct and simple.

ellen, you're so sweet! And yeah, day after tomorrow I'm taking the honey to South Beach! Five days of braising ourselves in the sun (and seeing the Deco sights), six nights of partying!!

You have a wonderful trip too. And for the record, the weather the last few days has actually been delightful. I actually had my top down on the car last NIGHT to go to dinner in Belmont Shore, it was so warm!

Party on, RJ! Sounds like good times. After our wild west adventures, i'd LOVE a beach vaca to chill and recuperate, but by then we're outa $$$

BTW, i'm assuming there are some good running paths around laguna beach?? And how's the beach there for running - anything like fla?

The sand itself is pretty tightly-packed close to the water (which is gonna be quite cool). It's a fairly rocky coastal area, with large stretches of sandy coves. I think it will be an excellent workout, and I'm sure you'll have lots of company, locals and tourists.

Laguna Beach itself is surprisingly hilly. Sidewalks are concrete and full of pedestrian traffic; even if the hills don't bother you, the sidewalks wouldn't be good for running, and Coast Highway is too busy to risk it. You'll like the beach, I think. Besides, there's no real boardwalk or running path in Laguna Beach per se. Everyone happily hits the sands!
