United has 2 flights from SanFrancisco to Lihue(Kauai) and 1 flight from LosAngeles to Lihue.American has 2 flights from Los Angeles to Lihue. These are the schedules in effect as we speak. What happenes next year..who knows?

Hey Nancy, are you looking for direct flight with stops to LIH, or the harder to find Non Stop to LIH, if so what airport are you leaving from?

Nancy03 Aug 14th, 2003 10:11 AM

I am leaving from Tampa, but would like to fly from somewhere on the west coast direct to Kauai, but fly back from Honolulu. Can I do that or does it kill me in $$ because it's not round trip?

Also - do travel agents loss out on their commissions if you use FF miles for airfare and hotels?

You could do roundtrip to TPA to LAX for example and then do one way LAX to LIH, and one way HNL to LAX. I have found when flying between NYC and TPA, that one way prices may or may not be half the price of a round trip ticket, it seems to change from day to day and week to week. Sometimes one way can cost you more than half a round trip, and less frequently, less than half a round trip.
Hope this helps. :S-

I think Aloha (or was it ATA?) was supposed to start non-stop Oakland -> Lihue this summer. Don't know if it happened.

Also, Aloha Airlines flies nonstop from Oakland to Lihue.

ATA has a nonstop to Lihue from LAX.

We flew on American last year from LAX directly to LIH and going back home flew from LIH to Honolulu and then to San Jose. This combination of flights (together with our flights to Newark) was actually cheaper than direct flights both ways.

To answer your travel agent question, airlines no longer give any commissions. Many travel agents charge a fee now for airline tickets. Don't know about the hotel part. Why would you need a agent if you're using FF miles & doing the research yourself?
