Direct Delta flights
 

I am trying to find out where Delta finds direct to from Boston in the U.S., mexico, and caribbean and am having no luck. Unless I do this for each city, such a pain. Any one know of another way?

Thanks. That tells me where Delta goes but not if it's direct or not! I've even called Delta and they can't help.

The link elberko gave you actually does show non-stop and direct flights.

For example, I clicked on Richmond, Virginia, and got a web of routes. Among the cities not connected to Richmond are Salt Lake City (a Delta hub!), Little Rock, and Hartford.

But, of course, you CAN make reservations from Richmond to SLC - you just have to change planes somewhere. In fact, plugging in random dates gave me a choice of 16 options between those two cities.

Delta could tell you whether a particular flight is non-stop or direct. What the reservations agents are not equipped to tell you is to which destinations Delta has non-stop and direct flights from your origin.

I know - I have asked the same basic question of Delta reservations, "Where can you fly non-stop or direct from ____?", and they said "We have to have a destination to tell you whether flights are non-stop/direct or require a connection."

Speaking of which, sometimes even flights that are "direct" and don't change flight number still have a change of planes. I have been on such flights.

One of my pet peeves - do you mean non-stop or direct - non-stopmeans just what the word says. As mentioned above, direct can mean a number of things. I think you mean non-stop and it gets confusing to airline when you call them direct.

Often you can find information on direct and connecting flights at an airport's website.

For Logan, you can go to http://www.massport.com/logan/d_default.aspx and select Delta (or Northwest, now that they are merged) and see all the departing flights around your time of inquiry (but not all for the entire day).

That should give you an idea of non-stop and direct destinations, Just be aware that some of the flights are code-shares (bookable through Delta but not actually operated by them). For example, Air France flights to Paris are Delta code-shares.

I meant "direct and non-stop"!

Thanks for the help. I couldn't have imagined there is any confusion when one says "direct" flight in that I want the most direct, quickest way to my destination. An indirect flight would be on that has stops, no? If I am asking Delta for all the "direct" flights from Boston, what else would I be asking for?

Non-stop is flight from A to Z without landing in between.

Direct is flight A with landing in H, you don't get out, take off, continue H to Z.

Indirect will be flight from A to H, change planes, fly on another H to Z.

No, not correct. In airline parlance a "direct" flight has a very specific meaning - same flight number from start to finish. A direct flight can have a stop enroute, and can even have a change of equipment at the stop. That's the definition of direct.

You don't have to like that definition or even agree with it, but it will help if you understand that's what the word direct means in the airline business.

The correct term you want to use is non-stop.

On the http://delta.innosked.com website you can just click on the "Select Map Settings" on the top left and select non-stop flights.
