Dinning in DC
 

We are heading to DC on Friday for 4 days. We are traveling with kids ages 7-15. Looking for some great restaurants. Chinese, sushi, Cuban. Anyhting different. We live in Jacksonville so we don't get the oppurtunity to eat in great restaurants.

A few recommendations:
Jaleo - Terrific tapas bar - the small plate dishes can be great for the kids since they can try a little bit of everything.
480 7th Street, NW
Full Kee - Great little restaurant located in DC's very small Chinatown. They make the noodles fresh, and you can watch them doing it right in the window.
509 H Street North West
Bistrot Lepic - Small French restaurant in DC's Glover Park. The food is great and it's not as formal or expensive as other good French restaurants in DC.
1736 Wisconsin Ave. NW
The kids might also enjoy Ben's Chili Bowl - a great DC place. They sell every kind of unhealthy food you can imagine, and pack the crowds in. 1213 U St. NW

Kateny has some great suggestions. Jaleo is close the the Archives or Gallery Place Metro station. Full Kee (get the oyster casserole and shrimp dumpling soup!) is at Gallery Place Metro. Bistro Lepic will require a short taxi (worth it!) as there is no Metro nearby. Ben's is at the U Street Metro station.

If you're in DC looking for the local dining scene, then I would also suggest Ethiopian. There are about 50 Ethiopian restaurants in DC. Dukem is highly rated and a natural choice for first timers or families. Like Ben's, it is also by the U Stret Metro stop.

There are not many Cuban restaurants. The better ones are actually in the suburbs. There are about 100 Salvadoran restaurants, however.

There are also dozens od sushi places. These three are tops. Sushi-Ko (taxi), Kaz Sushi Bistro and Sushi Taro.

I would also sugggest Perry's for sushi (other cuisine fine cuisine). It's good and also fun. The sushi floats down a river at the sushi bar while someone keeps track of your order as you dine.

On Capitol Hill, I also recommend Belga Cafe for Belgian or Montmartre (my all time fave) for French. Bot are close to Eastern Market Metro stop.

If your kids are adventurous eaters, try Marrakesh (sp?), which has belly dancers and a fun setting, or Mie N Yu, with good food and unisex restrooms
