Dinner/sites in the Bershires
 

We will be in Lenox,MA for three days in mid-October. We have decided on Spilagia and the Old in on the Green for dinners. Jack's is a possibility. Any other suggestions?

We definitely will be touring the Mount and probably basking in the Autumn color. Any other sites folks think we should make certain to include?

The Museum of Comtempary Art in North Adams (known as Mass MOCA); the Clark Museum in Williamstown; Mezze, a very good restaurant in Williamstown; Guido's, in Pittsfield, a great gourmet grocery store, perfect for packing a picnic; the Bridge of Flowers in Shelburn Falls.

Thank you~ I was just about to post asking the name of the grocery store in Pittsfield for picnic stuff!! Other friends have recommended the Clark and you reminded me of the MOCA.

Does anyone know of on-going Tag Sales in the area?

I second the suggestion of the Clark. And Guido's is THE place to pick up takeout stuff.

the tour of Chesterwood is interesting. Also, I'm always surprised by how much I like the Norman Rockwell museum. Not sure if the special exhibit is still there, but the New Yorker Covers was really well done and entertaining.

If you like old houses, like The Mount, I would definitely recommend Naumkeag. In fact, I think I've enjoyed visiting Naumkeag more than the Mount. It has more fully restored rooms.

I liked the Inn on the Green okay, but its not my favorite. On the night we were there they only had the Prix Fixe menu, and it was too limiting. If the Ala Carte menu had been available, I think I would have liked the food better. The atmosphere was very nice however. cozy and quiet.

In Great Barrington I like Verducci (Italian) quite a bit, and Pearl (steak house) and Castle Street Cafe (contemporary American) are both very good. My mom, who lives in Gt Barrington really likes Jacks for a more casual evening. I also like Church Street Cafe in Lenox.

Love Castle Street! that little area there in Great Barrington is full of food small restaurants.
Love the Clark and their sandwich shop in Williamstown is wonderful..named after actors..the sandwiches are named after actors :)
Guidos has to be seen .. I spent the month of August a few years ago, shopping in Guidos almost every day..their breads are soooo good!
Local papers when you are there will have tag sales, garage sales listed, but just drive on Rt 7 and wander the back roads, you will find all sorts of sales.

Just pretend you understand my response and skip over the words that do not belong ... sigh.

Definitely include a visit to Hakcock Shaker Village in Pittsfield.
