dinner reservations in Hawaii - necessary?

Hi there,

Aside from the luaus which apparently book up very far in advance, would you recommend making reservations for dinner at high end restaurants in Hawaii before we leave for our honeymoon? Or can we wait until we get there and book as we go? Thanks!!

It would really depend on where you are going and when.

I would book the first couple of nights and then book the rest when you get there. If you are going during a busy season you may have to book them all before you go.

Sorry - Itinerary is as follows:

May 23 - 25 at Princeville on Kauai
May 26 - 31 at Kea Lani on Maui
June 1 - June 4 at 4 Seasons on BI

Thanks!

We've never called more than a day ahead in Hawaii, and have always gotten into the good restaurants. Not to say that it's a bad idea to reserve before you leave the mainland, but we never have. I think the luau's that book up are the Old Lahaina on Maui and the Kona Village on the Big Island. Other than that, I don't think you'll have a problem going to the average luau at the last minute. (There's a reason for that......... :-) )
