Dinner near hotel on W 51st St. NYC

What are some good options for dinner near the Washington Jefferson Hotel on W51st St? I have looked on menupages but I like to hear your suggestions then look them up. Price range for 2 is <$100. We like american, italian, mexican, my husband loves steak. No sushi, or oriential style foods. Thanks!

That is not a good area for decent or value food. But New York has great public transportation ... so check out places on the Upper West Side like Telepan, Ouest & Isabella's, and places in Chelsea & Greenwich Village to the south.

Hundreds of great options, not far!

There are lots of inexpensive and good options for food on 9th Ave in the upper 40's and low 50's. I happen to like the Greek fish place (whose name escapes me) and Pietrasanta (Italian).

Uncle Nick's -- 9th Ave b/t 50 and 51 (the Greek fish place). Delicious appetizers and wonderful grilled fish.

Thalia (they have a prix fixe menu) for American. ViceVersa for Italian, also prix fixe. Empanada Mama for tapas/latin.

do a search here on pre-theater dinner. You'll find lots of good options. Some that come to mind (and are quite reasonable) are Dervish (turkish), Havana Central (cuban), Cascina (Italian), Virgil's (bbq), Joe Allen (American) and Basilica (Italian). Some of these have very reasonable prix fixes as well.
