Dinner in Honolulu - where?
 

We will be cruising Hawaii over Christmas and we will be in Honolulu Christmas Eve. Considering the holiday I'm guessing that I should get a reservation well ahead of time. Any thoughts on what restaurants would be good choices. We eat just about everything, price is not a factor and we will have dress clothes with us if necessary BUT my husband won't wear a tie! Also any good places for lunch in Nawiliwili, Kuai, Hilo, and Lahaina? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Where are you staying? Otherwise, you can have a lovely dinner at the place you disembark--Aloha Tower Marketplace. Have sunset cocktails at Gordon Biersch or Don Ho's, then head over to Chai's Island Bistro for dinner. He features live island music nightly.

I enjoyed the Banyon Veranda restaurant at the old Moana Surfrider Sheraton in Waikiki. It's very nice but would not require a tie. Great view and atmosphere, nice service and food.

In Lahaina try the Mixed Plate Grille (i believe is the name) it's near the mall and the grounds of the old Lahaina luau. It's a cheap casual place with great Hawaiian food.

for your lunch in Hilo, go to Cafe Pesto, right on the bayfront. Probably the best food in Hilo! The shuttles from the boat should take you or it's a pleasant 10-15 minute walk from the pier

There are a lot of good places to eat in Honolulu. If you want a very special dinner and you are not on a budget, take a look at La Mer at the Halekulani. It was quite an experience when I ate there last March the food, ambience and service were all very good. Also, L'Uraku and Diamond Head Grill were very good. The prices at L'Uraku were reasonable and the food excellent - the restaurant is somewhat bright and light - not my usual preference for dining but in this case it worked. Diamond Head Grill had a more modern, sleek look and the food was also very good, although the service was just okay.

For lunch at Nawiliwili (Kaua`i), it's an easy stroll from the ship to Duke's Canoe Club (fronting the bay, below the Marriott Resort).

If your schedule permits dinner at Nawiliwili, I'd suggest either Duke's (their upstairs is dinner-only), or wonderful Italian food right next door at Cafe Portofino.

No tie required at either place...

Your husband needn't worry about wearing a tie because not one restaurant requires one. The ONLY restaurant in all the islands that requires a jacket is on Lanai at the fine dining restaurant at the Lodge at Koele. Fine dining dress for men would be long pants, a collared shirt, and probably closed shoes.
